Our mission is to support and uplift the lives of trans children, trans educators, and families-touched-by-transness. Our children deserve trustworthy educators who reflect their multifaceted identities, are advocates and cultural brokers, maintain high expectations, and provide culturally relevant teaching that confronts racism, transphobia, and other societal inequities. Providing students with the tools to read and write power will embolden them to lead lives dedicated to collective liberation. We believe in a Middle School that teaches transformational resistance empowering students to challenge racist, ableist, transphobic, transmisogynistic, and other white supremacist systems. TfS will found a Middle School, open to all, that embodies the work of liberation through rigorous academics, joyful connections, identity exploration, and progressive practice. We aspire to embody bell hooks' vision of "education as the practice of freedom." With empathy and through reflective action, our community will thrive because they feel loved, safe, and seen.

RALLY TO FUND $15M FOR LGBTQIA+ IMMIGRANT LEGAL SERVICES NOW!

LGBTQIA+ Immigrants need access to legal services quickly that affirm their identities.

The time is now, our neighbors cannot wait until next year. The Caribbean Equality Project with NYCTransQueerCoalition and NYC Council LGBTQIA+ Caucus are advocating for $15M in the FY27 Budget. We are requesting the funds to be split :

$7.5M to a new City Council Speaker Initiative to fund non-profits providing legal services to the community

&

$7.5M to the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs to expand and enhance services specifically for LGBTQIA+ Immigrants.

🧱✨🏳️‍⚧️Trans formative Schools has been creating something powerful!

What started as an afterschool program for youth ages 9-15 has grown into a community rooted in safety, joy, creativity, leadership, and affirmation. Here, young people build confidence, express themselves, develop new skills, organize for change, and imagine bigger futures for themselves and each other.

In just three years, we’ve:
✨Provided consistent, affirming afterschool programming for trans and gender-expansive youth
✨ Helped secure community victories that protected trans youth rights in NYC
✨ Supported efforts that brought millions of dollars to trans-led and trans-serving programs
✨ Organized rallies, uplifted youth voices, and celebrated trans leadership

Every workshop, every CEC 2 meeting, every rally, every afternoon at the Christopher Street Pier is where connection is made possible by a community that believes trans young people deserve the freedom to thrive.

🏳️‍⚧️✨MARCH WITH US AT NYC PRIDE!

For the past three years, Trans formative Schools has been proud to call home. There, we’ve built an afterschool community rooted in joy, creativity, care, and celebration for trans, nonbinary, gender-expansive, and q***r youth.

Last year, we had the incredible honor of serving as Grand Marshals in the NYC Pride Parade, and this year we’re excited to march alongside the community that has supported and celebrated us over these past three years.

As we head into summer break, we’re excited to celebrate with you this June and already looking forward to returning to afterschool in the fall, where the joy, learning, and fun will continue!

🗓️Join us on Sunday, June 28th for a day of celebration, connection, and Pride! Bring your family, friends, and chosen family. All are welcome.
