Flying into the new school year! 🦉✨ Our first assembly set the bar high with an inspiring talk from our principal on respect, hard work, and building a strong community. We were also treated to a special surprise appearance by Ollie the Owl!

Next up: leaders in the making. Our students are gearing up to run for class representatives, with eyes set on Student Council cabinet roles! Let’s make this year unforgettable. 💙

🍚🥕 We LOVED It! 🥰

Our NIA Middle School After School students rolled up their sleeves and got cooking! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Today’s menu: Vegetable Fried Rice! 🥕🫑🧅🍚 Students practiced real-life kitchen skills as they chopped, measured, mixed, cooked, and worked together to create something delicious.

And the verdict? We LOVED it! 🥰

Sometimes trying something new is all it takes to discover a new favorite. So our message to you is…

Learning doesn’t only happen with pencils and paper. Sometimes it happens around a cutting board, a pan, and a table filled with friends. 💙💛

🇮🇹❤️🤍💚 COME MARCH WITH OUR NIA & 192 FAMILY! ❤️🤍💚🇮🇹

We are excited to invite our students, families, teachers, staff, and NIA community to join us for the 44th Annual Brooklyn Columbus Day Parade, hosted by FIAO (Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn).

FIAO is an important community partner that helps support and fund our OWLS After-School Program at P.S./I.S. 192, so we are especially proud to come out, march together, and support an organization that gives so much back to our students and families. 💙💛

🎉 Parade begins: 1:00 PM
📍 18th Avenue (Cristoforo Colombo Boulevard)

Let’s wear RED, WHITE & GREEN 🇮🇹 and fill 18th Avenue with our 192 and NIA spirit!

Students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult for the entire event. Please bring water and a snack.

✏️📚 Writers helping writers! Today, our 1st graders worked in small groups to peer review their Module 1 writing, “Nice to Meet You: A Time That I Made a New Friend.” 🤝💭

Students practiced giving thoughtful compliments and suggestions to help their classmates strengthen their writing. We’re learning that great writers don’t just write—they read, reflect, revise, and grow together! 📝✨

Tomorrow we’re celebrating Dolly Parton Day! 🤠📚✨
Wear PINK and SPARKLE and help us celebrate a woman with a huge heart for children and literacy.

Through her Imagination Library, Dolly has helped put books into the hands of millions of children, inspiring a love of reading from an early age. 📖💕

Dolly reminds us that making a difference doesn’t have to be complicated. We can share what we have, encourage others, spread kindness, and help children dream BIG! ⭐️

🎨✨ Creating Self-Portraits for Hispanic Heritage Month! ✨🎨

Our NIA Middle School Afterschool students are getting creative while celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!

Inspired by a famous Hispanic artist who created a collage-style self-portrait featuring herself and the things she loved, our students are creating their own self-portraits filled with the people, places, interests, and things that make them who they are. ❤️
