Our Team had the great opportunity to be represented at the highest level of debate competitions, the 2020 World Universities Debating Championship hosted at Assumption University in Thailand! Incredibly proud and humbled of the team for having worked to get this chance for the first time ever. A special thanks to the team of Chrismal Abraham & Lakshay Khosla and our coach Trevor Colliton for working hard to represent us and perform well at this tough competition.

We are delighted to see our team put up another great performance this weekend for the Off-Broadway Swing speech tournament at Nassau. Proud of everyone performing at this tournament and a special shoutout to our new member Maya Ardon for getting 4th place in Dramatic Interpretation at her first college tournament, our treasurer Hamza Khilji for placing 6th in impromptu speaking, and our speech captain Annalissa Thomas for placing 6th in poetry interpretation!

Highlighting the month of November is a great performance by our team at Huber Debates at the University of Vermont. Congrats to the entire team and a special shout out to our President Lakshay Khosla for ranking amongst the top 25 speakers at this tournament!

The veterans of this team dominated this weekend at the Speech Tournament in Lafayette College 🏆

Congrats to the following for their performance:
1. Annalissa Thomas for 3rd place in Informative Speech and 5th place in poetry
2. Hamza Khilji for 4th place in After Dinner Speaking and 6th place in Impromptu Speech
3. Zain Qureshi for 5th place in Impromptu Speech
4. Lakshay Khosla for being a supportive judge

We honored Seniors Josiah James and Navin Rana at our Senior Sendoff Dinner. These two individuals have represented our team, led us, and showed large amounts of dedication throughout the last 4 years. We thank them and everyone for coming out to support them 😊

Our team was spectacular as they competed in a speech tournament and a debate tournament at Salt Lake City, Utah last weekend. We are incredibly proud of all our competitors for bringing out their A game and representing Brooklyn College. Our team was able to rank amongst the top teams at both tournaments 💪! A special shout out goes out to two members who won us awards:

1. Lakshay Khosla for placing 4th place in impromptu speaking and 5th place in extemporaneous speaking!

2. Zenab Jamil for placing 4th place in informative speech and 6th place in extemporaneous speaking!

Wow! With another weekend completed, the BC Speech and Debate Team competed in two separate tournaments!

One was at Brandeis University, where we had three teams go head to head with the best Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc. had to offer as this was the last major prep tournament before the World Universities Debate Championships. All the schools brought their A-game and it was fun!

The second tournament was at Nassau Community College where our speech side competed in the Off-Broadway Swing. Our members did extremely well as usual against our many local rival schools!

As these were our last competitions for the semester, we would like to thank everyone who supported us and everyone who joined our family! :)

What a fantastic weekend! This weekend, the BC Speech and Debate Team was in Vancouver, British Columbia, for the UBC IV 2018 Tournament. 15 people, including 6 teams and 3 judges were there! It was a pleasure to be the only East coast team there.

Novice debaters Corrinne Greene and Carlos J. Calzadilla-Palacio won 2nd place in the Novice Finals! In addition, Josiah James was the top speaker from Brooklyn College! Huge congrats to them for repping BC!!!!

Moreover, novice judge Loren Hernandez chaired a round and broke to finals as an adjudicator, in addition to our coach Trevor Colliton! Our other teams were very close/on the brink of breaking. Very proud of everyone!

What a weekend it was! 13 members of the Brooklyn College Speech and Debate team attended the annual Yale IV British Parliamentary Tournament. It is one of the largest and most competitive tournaments we attend. We are very proud of all of our novice teams for coming out, competing, and doing a fantastic job for their first tournament. Special shoutouts to:

-Senior Navin Rana for having the honor of chairing the
judging panel for the last round.
-Juniors Lakshay Khosla and Hamza Khilji for being the
best team out of BC, as they scored the highest points
as a team out of BC and also the highest points
ever scored by a BC team at this competition.
-Novice teams Chrismal Abraham and Zahra Khan for
being the top novice team out of BC.

Thank you to EVERYONE who came out to the Involvement Fair this past week. The event was a great SUCCESS and we got to get a taste of how talented our BC Campus is!
