This project unfolded over several days.

The children began by rolling layers of paint across large sheets of paper using rollers and textured mesh. After the paint dried, they returned to the surface to draw, trace, and add new marks, discovering how crayons and pastels interacted with the textured landscape of color.

Layer by layer, the work evolved as the children revisited the materials with fresh ideas.✨🎨

As the days grow longer and the sun comes through our west window, the children naturally gravitate toward this space. The sunlight brings the magnetic tiles and sensory tubes to life, filling the area with color and movement as the children build, stack, and observe how natural light transforms the materials. ☀️ 🧚

🚂✨ Trains open up so many pathways for learning. As children lay tracks, they explore balance, symmetry, and collaboration. They test ideas of distance, speed, and connection. In their play, they construct not only railways, but also stories, friendships, and new ways of thinking.✨

💫 Our toddlers are busy transforming trains, tracks, and loose parts into magical journeys filled with colors, cargo, and creativity. Every piece tells a story, and every stop is an adventure. 🌈🪵

What if we told you that learning to read at age 3 doesn’t predict success in 3rd grade? 🤯📚

Early academics might look impressive… but the research is clear: it’s play, not structured drills, that builds the skills kids need to thrive later in school.

🎯 Self-regulation
🧠 Focus
🤝 Collaboration
💡 Problem-solving

By 4th or 5th grade, kids who had more time to play often outperform those pushed into early academics. Because play builds the foundation, not just for learning, but for life.

💛 Let’s protect childhood. Let them play.🧚

Bubbles and sunlight, simple joys that never get old ✨🫧
The children filled our naturally lit classroom with laughter and movement, chasing light, reflections, and each other. Magic in motion.🧚✨

Scarves, wind, and wonder 🌬️✨
During free play, the children discovered how the wind tunnel makes scarves dance and float. No instructions needed, just curiosity, joy, and a little bit of science in the air.

It’s not your job to rush them. It’s your job to protect the short childhood years in slowness, boredom, curiosity, and deep presence. 💭

Let’s go barefoot, with pockets full of rocks and paint in our hair. ✨

🚪 Tying ropes across doorways?
📦 Filling bags with random objects?
🌪️ Spinning in circles over and over?

These aren’t just quirky toddler habits, they’re schemas: powerful patterns children use to explore how the world works.

Schemas are the brain’s way of learning through movement, repetition, and curiosity.
When we understand them, we stop saying “Why are they doing that?” and start asking, “What are they figuring out?”

✨ Supporting schemas means honoring the child’s inner scientist, artist, and builder.

Swipe through to explore two schemas we’re noticing in our classroom right now, and how we’re supporting them through play! ➡️
