Brooklyn Independent is a private 5 – 8 middle school in Brooklyn with a focus on racial and socio-economic diversity called Brooklyn Independent. As educators with over 15 years of experience, we have seen the strengths and weakness of the current educational opportunities in Brooklyn and feel passionately that Brooklyn Independent is a solution to many of the problems plaguing education in New Y

ork City. Brooklyn has the most segregated schools system in our country, despite being one of the most diverse urban areas in the Unites States. This directly mirrors the national divide in our country that is leading to fear and intolerance; a fear and intolerance that cannot grow in a community that respects, celebrates and nurtures what makes us unique. This community is Brooklyn Independent. At Brooklyn Independent we are committed to:
• Serving a community that reflects the racial and socio-economic diversity of Brooklyn.
• Making sure our school is accessible to all families, regardless of income, with financial aid opportunities.
• Creating a rigorous education led by teachers with over three years of experience.
• Taking advantage of the rich cultural identify of Brooklyn with extracurricular activities celebrating the surrounding community.
