So, what is Mandoo Club? 🥢
We aren’t just about recipes; we are about the joy of the fold. For the past 5 years, our founder, Judy, has been on a mission to share the love and soul of Korean food and culture. What started as a passion project has grown into a community of foodies, creators, and comfort-food lovers.
Why you NEED to experience the Club:
If you’ve been looking for a sign to level up your kitchen game, this is it! Here’s why our workshops are a total vibe:
More Than a Class: It’s a hands-on celebration! You’ll learn the art of the perfect fold while soaking in the stories behind the flavors.
5 Years of Love: Judy has spent half a decade perfecting the experience, bringing the warmth of her heritage straight to your table.
Community First: Bring your crew—you’ll leave with a full belly and a happy heart.
Cultural Connection: We dive deep into the “why” behind Korean comfort food, making every bite more meaningful.

NOLA, you have my heart. ⚜️✨ Exploring the French Quarter Festival felt like a non-stop treasure hunt through historic streets and hidden garden courtyards.
The energy is unmatched—free music around every corner and that world-famous Southern hospitality at every turn. Between learning the storied history of the **Sazerac** and sipping on **Gin Fizzes** and **Gold Fashioneds**, I fully immersed myself in the spirit of the city.
And the food? Absolute soul on a plate. From classic Gumbo and overstuffed Po-boys to fresh Gulf fish smothered in crawfish, every bite was a celebration.
The NOLA Hit List:
Clancy’s
N7
Elysian Bar
Sun Chong
Peacock Lounge
Kingfish
Mother’s
NOLA Po-boys

New Orleans, your culture is one-of-a-kind. I’m already planning the return trip. 🎷🥃🥘
From “Seoul to Soul,” New Orleans has a brand new flavor profile that I didn’t know I needed until now. ✨
If you find yourself in the French Quarter, *Sun Chong* is an absolute must-visit. Chef Sun is doing something incredible here—fusing the bold, fermented heat of Korean cuisine with the deep, spiced comfort of Creole cooking. It’s rare to find a concept that feels so authentically rooted in two different cultures simultaneously, but every bite here packs a serious punch.
**The Standouts:**
* **Gumbo Mandoo:** Truly mind-blowing. Imagine the rich, soulful essence of gumbo tucked inside a delicate dumpling. It’s the fusion I never knew was missing from my life.
* **Korean Gochujang Wings:** Perfectly glazed and exploding with flavor.
* **House-made Kimchi:** Crisp, funky, and clearly made with love.
* **Crawfish Fried Rice:** The ultimate NOLA-meets-Korea comfort dish.
I’m already counting down the days until I can head back, meet the Chef herself, and dive deeper into this menu. New Orleans food scenes just got a lot more exciting! 🇰🇷×🇺🇸

Making Jeon is a true labor of love. ❤️
An array of savory mini fritters, these golden bites are traditionally made for celebrations, holidays, or any meaningful gathering. Whether it’s tender meat or seasonal vegetables, each piece is lightly dusted in flour, dipped in a rich egg batter, and pan-fried to perfection.
There’s something so special about the ritual of making them—the rhythm of the sizzle, the shared stories in the kitchen, and the joy of connecting over a communal table. These are the moments that make the best memories.
The Perfect Pairing 🍶
To elevate the experience, pair these savory fritters with a chilled bowl of **Makgeolli**. This traditional Korean rice wine has a natural effervescence and a creamy, slightly sweet profile that beautifully cuts through the richness of the pan-fried Jeon.
**Pro Tip:** Look for a **”Draft” (Saeng) Makgeolli** for a crisp, bubbly finish, or try a **Nutty/Chestnut** variety to complement the earthy flavors of vegetable fritters.
I have paired this meal with home brew.
Rainy days in San Francisco call for one thing: the ultimate Korean comfort combo. 🌧️✨
There’s a long-standing tradition in Korea that when it rains, you gather for **Makgeolli** (rice wine) and **Anju** (savory snacks). Something about the sound of the rain hitting the pavement just makes you crave the sizzle of a pancake!
I finally tried my hand at making my own brew from scratch! After attending a workshop at .sf led by the incredible Alice from Makgeolli**, my batch has been fermenting away for a few weeks. Today was finally the day to filter and taste—and the result is so fresh and creamy.
To keep the cozy vibes going without spending hours in the kitchen, I paired my brew with:
* **Kimchi Jeon** by Kimchi** 🥞
* **Kimchi Pork Ribs** by ** 🍖
Since these came in perfect reheat portions, dinner was ready in minutes. Honestly, the combination of the crisp Jeon, savory ribs, and DIY Makgeolli is so good you completely forget about the gray skies outside.
It’s these little moments of heritage and flavor that bring the most joy. Cheers to finding comfort in every drop! 🇰🇷
