MMEA supports -
Music educators through professional development - The Midwinter Clinic, the Collegiate Conference, and Interval, a quarterly journal;

Students involved in K-12 school music programs - Elementary and middle level festivals, All-State honors ensembles, and K-collegiate composition contest; and

Advocacy for school music programs - Providing resources and information to music educators and the community on advocating for music education in our schools.

All-State Audition materials are available now on the MMEA website, along with helpful resources for students and teachers! It's never too early to get started! The audition portal will open for auditions on January 1, 2027 and the audition deadline is at NOON (12PM) on March 2, 2027.

MMEA is excited to introduce: the All-State Popular Music Ensemble! This ensemble will be significantly larger than a standard popular music ensemble and will perform in multiple styles, including rock, pop, country, R&B, hip hop, and more! Selected students will have input on songs that are programmed including creating originals. Your school does not have to have a modern band program in order for your student to audition! The audition timeline for the Popular Music Ensemble is the same as the other All-State ensembles, but the event will not take place at All-State Camp. There will be a few virtual rehearsals in the fall of 2027. An in-person weekend rehearsal and concert will take place in January 8-9, 2028 at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in C**n Rapids. The rehearsal will conclude on Sunday afternoon with a concert. A reprise rehearsal and performance will take place at the MMEA 2028 Midwinter Convention at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

MMEA is excited to support elementary music programs state-wide with another year of the Elementary All-Star Choir! The nomination materials are all posted now on the website, so you can start sending info and permission forms home with students today. Check out the registration instructions on the website to learn more about the process. The nomination form will open on October 1, and close on November 15. It's first come, first serve until we hit 250 students! The cap this year is SEVEN (7) students per school. Your students will have an AMAZING experience with conductor, Matthew Silpot.
