Our district is temporarily moving to eLearning today, Wednesday, March 5, 2025, because of heavy snowfall and strong winds. This means students, kindergarten through grade 12, will stay home and use their school-provided device to learn. Teachers will share further details with families.

All other district programming has been canceled as part of the temporary move to eLearning, including Kidstop and Four Star Express programs as well as early childhood/preschool. After-school/evening activities are also canceled except for those preparing for section or state playoffs. Coaches will share more information on this.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility with this news. Details are at district279.org.

Some modifications are being made to our school schedule today, Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, because of further deteriorating roadways from the heavy snowfall – creating challenging travel conditions for school rides home. Plowing also isn’t expected to resume until later this evening.

Afternoon preschool will be canceled (this includes our family event scheduled for today from 1:30 - 3:00)
High schools will release 30 minutes early
Middle schools and the Osseo Education Center will release 20 minutes early
The Osseo Area Learning Center will release 10 minutes early
Elementary schools normally releasing at 3:20 p.m., will release 10 minutes early
Elementary schools normally releasing at 4 p.m., will release as scheduled

The transportation team is expecting student drop off times to vary between early, on-time and late. Refer to the FirstView app for real time bus info.

All after-school and evening activities have been canceled. Kidstop and Four Star Express school-age care will remain open until all children have been picked up.

Update and community input on school-based health center at PCSH

After further review, the school-based health center mentioned as part of Crest View’s repurposing is going to be placed at Park Center Senior High School instead. There are a variety of reasons for this change, including easier access for more scholars and their families and a more district-centralized location.

Why it matters: A school-based health center is a great way for our schools to help with day-to-day needs of our scholars so that the focus can be on classroom learning.

Your feedback is also needed to ensure that the services offered are the most fitting for our community today and in the years ahead. Please take two minutes to share what you and your family would be most interested in utilizing the clinic for via this anonymous Google Form: https://bit.ly/4g78AHF

More on this partnership and what to expect in the months ahead is at district279.org

Evidence shows that school-based health center programs are most successful in supportive school environments with the support of staff, leaders, students, parents/caregivers and community members. Successful programs also build on and integrate with existing services and actively engage stakeholder...

As shared this fall, elementary and middle school attendance boundaries are being adjusted in order to balance student enrollment across the district.

Proposals are currently being created using the community-built parameters developed earlier this fall. These will be finalized over the next few weeks and shared online at district279.org/boundaries the evening of Jan. 14. Community members will be welcome to provide feedback on these proposals via an accompanying feedback form.

Additionally, Community Informational Meetings are scheduled for Jan. 15 and 23. These evenings will start with a half-hour presentation detailing the proposals and then transition to small groups, where community members will be able to share their thoughts and ask questions with district leaders.
