This month, we were proud to fund a trip to The International Festival of Minnesota for 18 Brooklyn Center Secondary students and 2 chaperones. The festival gathered more than 70 nations and ethnic communities to celebrate the vibrant diversity of Minnesota and the world.

Students experienced performances, food, and shopping from cultures across the world. The experience not only broadened their understanding of other cultures, but also provided a meaningful opportunity to see their own identities reflected, honored, and celebrated.

We recently funded a group of Brooklyn Center Secondary students to attend Spanish Language Day at the Minnesota Zoo. In preparation, students researched an animal featured at the zoo, developed trifold presentations, and shared their findings with peers—entirely in Spanish.

In February, the Centaur Foundation funded an escape room for 45 students and staff from the Early College Academy. The Alcatraz escape room was brought and built in the building as an innovative way to skill build. All groups were successful in escaping with extra time to spare! This experience allowed students to collaborate, problem solve, and engage with their peers to reach a common goal.
