***What Makes Air Do This?***
Today, EPWCCS had its all-school art crawl field trip! The day started at the Flint Hills Children's Festival, where the group Squonk performed their music and pneumatic wonders. Afterward, they held a workshop teaching our Evergreen kids about the science of pneumatics—air, that is!

We made district news again!

Students at Evergreen Park World Cultures Community School in Brooklyn Center got quite a treat for national I Love to Read Month: a visit from Newbery Medal winning author Kwame Alexander.

Another great guest-reader event at EPWCCS!

Grade 4/5 students participated in the "Be an All-Star" literacy visit today, which is an annual effort to celebrate All-Star Jackie Robinson’s historic barrier-breaking accomplishments and important colorblind life lessons.
Volunteers from The Minnesota Twins Front Office read a story and shared a brief video about Jackie Robinson; a discussion regarding the values we can learn from his example followed. Students won prizes during the Question & Answer portion of the event, and all participants received special 2016 Minnesota Twins bookmarks. We thank them for their time and efforts this morning!

Did you know that this Newbery award winning author came and spoke to our fourth and fifth graders on Friday? The kids were very impressed by him, and it sounds like the feeling was mutual. Let us know in the comments what your kids said about the event.
