🥳Congratulations to the Class of 2026!🥳

It has been a joy to watch this remarkable group of students grow throughout the year. The eighth graders began the year preparing for high school through school visits, applications, and shadow days at their prospective schools. Amid these preparations, they continued to excel academically across all subject areas.

On Wednesday, we celebrated their accomplishments with a beautiful Commencement Mass and Graduation Ceremony. This year, we were honored to award a new scholarship established by the Wu family in memory of Nurse Catherine’s late husband, Johnny Wu. The $1,000 Johnny Wu Memorial Scholarship was presented to Vibha Sitaraman in recognition of her outstanding achievements, leadership, and contributions to our school community. Congratulations, Vibha!

We also introduced our inaugural S.T.A.R.S. Award, recognizing a student who exemplifies the values St. Mary’s holds dear: Service, Truth, Academic Excellence, Respect, and Spiritual Growth. The S.T.A.R.S. Award was presented to Adira Jones in recognition of her consistent demonstration of these values throughout her years at St. Mary’s as a student.

We will miss our graduates dearly and are excited to see all that they will accomplish in the years ahead. We wish them God’s blessings as they begin this next chapter of their educational journey! 💙🎓

Earlier this week we held our Middle School Science Fair led by Mr. O'Connor! Each student had the opportunity to explore a scientific topic that interested them. After extensive brainstorming, students chose their topics and read through at least three relevant and reliable sources to develop their understanding of their topics. Next, they designed and conducted experiments to test one aspect of their topic, analyzed their experiments' data, and drew conclusions based on the results. Each student wrote a formal lab report to present their findings and created a tri-fold poster to summarize the key ideas and highlights from their projects. This also gave our Middle School students the opportunity to share their work with families and faculty, and to showcase their work to younger scientist!

On Friday, we hosted our International Family Festival! It was a wonderful celebration of the rich diversity that makes our school community so special. More than 30 countries were represented by families who generously shared traditional foods, cultural crafts, and customs with students, families, alumni, board members and staff. It was inspiring to see families proudly share their heritage and to watch students explore and appreciate the many traditions represented.

A special thank you to Ithwa and Laura for serving as chairs of this event and dedicating so many hours to planning and organizing every detail. We are also deeply grateful to all of the families who spent so much time cooking, preparing, and sharing food and activities. Their generosity, hard work, and enthusiasm made this celebration possible and helped create a truly memorable experience for our entire school community! 🌎

In grade 4, students have been learning about the Ten Commandments and are focusing this week on the 4th commandment. They have learned about the Holy Family and the importance of loving and respecting those around us. This week, students demonstrated this knowledge through skits. Each group mapped out a storyboard of their ideas and then performed them for the class.

Our toddler students recently enjoyed an exciting field trip to the Brookline Police Station! The children had the opportunity to explore different areas of the station, including the dispatch room, where they learned how officers receive and respond to emergency calls. They also visited the detective offices and met with the Police Chief, who shared about the important work police officers do to help keep our community safe. This experience helped bring community helpers to life and fostered meaningful connections between our students and the people who serve our community! Thank you Brookline MA Police Department for having us and Officer Katie & Bear for showing us around! Our students had so much fun exploring a new part of our community and seeing some familiar faces in action!
