Week Two at ACRES 🌱

Another week down at ACRES! Our second week has been full of learning, creativity, connection, and lots of new experiences. The kiddos are learning SO many new things while making new friends and continuing to build a little community with one another. 🌱

Our students have been especially creative with PBL this week! They worked on projects like creating a map of our school and designing a “container” to carry a small object. We’ve also been bringing nature into our curriculum in some really fun ways. We’ve gotten creative with learning our numbers—and REALLY creative when it came to combining nature and place value. 😂🌿

Science has been a big hit, too! The kids learned about oxidation in our foods and even had a lesson on DNA—how everyone’s DNA is different, how our bodies read DNA, and, of course, the very important question of whether or not a “strawberry human” would be ethical. 😂🍓🧬

Our littles have been loving story time and always enjoy having a fun little activity to go along with the books they’re reading. 📚✨

It’s been so fun watching the kids learn, explore, create, ask questions, and grow together. Another week down—and SO many more adventures to come! 💚

WEEK ONE: COMPLETE! 🌟

We officially kicked off our first week at ACRES, and what a week it has been! 🥳

We spent the week getting to know one another, playing fun get-to-know-you games, building friendships, learning our routines, and getting everything in place for a successful year of learning, growing, and exploring together. 💚

There’s something so exciting about the beginning of a new school year—the fresh start, the new friendships, the big ideas, and all the possibilities ahead. We are SO ready to see where this year takes us! ✨

Well… today officially closes the chapter on the 2025–2026 school year at ACRES Microschool, and what an unforgettable year it has been. 💚

This year brought so many new faces, friendships, challenges, milestones, laughs, and memories that we know will stay with us for years to come. From silly moments during team-building games and field day competitions, to hands-on learning projects, enrichment days, cooking classes, nature lessons, reading together, and simply watching students grow more confident in themselves each day—this year has been full of moments that reminded us exactly why ACRES exists.

We watched students encourage one another, step outside of their comfort zones, discover new interests, build leadership skills, and learn that education can be meaningful, flexible, creative, and full of joy. Students are leaving this year confident and thriving. They found friendships and connections that became such an important part of their everyday lives. That is something truly special.

To our families—thank you. Thank you for supporting our vision, volunteering your time, cheering on your students, and helping us create a community that feels more like family than just a school. ACRES would not be what it is without each and every one of you.

As bittersweet as it is to wrap up the year, we are so excited for what is ahead. This summer we’ll be working hard behind the scenes, dreaming bigger, planning new opportunities, and continuing to grow into the best version of ACRES we can be for our students.

To our kiddos: thank you for the laughter, the creativity, the endless questions, the funny stories, the excitement, and the love you brought into our building every single day. Watching you learn and grow has been one of the greatest joys of this year.

We hope everyone has a safe, fun, and memory-filled summer. ☀️ We already cannot wait to welcome everyone back for the 2026–2027 school year and see all the amazing things our students will continue to accomplish.

Thank you for an incredible year at ACRES. ❤️

As the school year begins wrapping up, that can only mean one thing… FIELD DAY at ACRES Microschool!! ☀️🏃‍♂️💦

This week students spent time getting into groups, creating teams, and preparing for some friendly competition! Our fierce teams—the Apex Predators, Cheetah Girls, Flame Throwers, and Girl Power—came ready to compete and definitely brought the energy. 🔥🐆

From races and relays to teamwork challenges, students had tons of fun cheering on their teammates and showing great sportsmanship all day long. While the games may not have been too serious, the team spirit absolutely was! 📣

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the long-awaited Teacher vs. Student Tug of War—something the kids had been talking about and looking forward to all week! While the teachers were very confident we could take them… we severely underestimated their strength! 😂

After warming up all morning, it was finally time to cool off! We rolled out the slip-and-slide, grabbed a TON of water balloons, and soaked up the sunshine together. 💧🌞

We wrapped up the day with fruit pops and lots of smiles, and now we’re ready to come back refreshed and relaxed for our LAST week of school! 🎉

As we near the end of the school year (and another special holiday 😉), we’ve spent this week getting creative and showing off our skills with a paint brush here at ACRES Microschool! 🎨☀️

This week was also Teacher Appreciation Week, and while we always appreciate the kindness shown by our students and families, we wanted to take some time to celebrate our ACRES moms, too. 💐 We know how hard all of you work to care for your kiddos, and we appreciate everything you do. Throughout the week, students have been creating a variety of special Mother’s Day crafts to send home to their moms.

On Tuesday, students also learned about Cinco de Mayo. Including why it is celebrated, how it is celebrated, and which regions take part in the celebrations.

Along with all the creativity, we’ve been soaking up the sunshine and enjoying these last few weeks together with our friends. This week has been full of review activities, hands on learning, games, laughter, and lots of fun while continuing to learn and grow together. 🌿✨

🤍 A fun fact about me is I can juggle-- metaphorically I juggle all the many tasks that make up my full life, but I can also literally juggle!
📚 Lately, I’ve been reading "The Witches" by Roal Dahl. It's our current family read aloud!

📚 Lately, I’ve been reading "If Only I had Told Her" by Laura Nowlin. I've also been learning about domesticate snakes! I love the Ball Pythons and the Hognose snakes are really cool, though I don't think I would ever personally own one!
