Final Day traditions. ❤️🤍💙

All grades assembled with their classroom flags flying, and the local Emblem Club in attendance, to see the retirement of the colors of Kalmiopsis School's 2025-26 American flag this morning. Two staff veterans, Head Custodian Frank Hernandez and Playground Coach Ronn Mills, led the flag ceremony, while First Grade Teacher/BHHS Drama Coach Shannah Dongelmans sang the Anthem.

The flag was presented to longtime Brookings educator Ken Olsen with a big cheer from the crowd. Principal Matthew Bennett and Vice Principal Lynn Schiermeyer also recognized several students for perfect attendance, and a special thank you to parent volunteers Megan and Michael Simmons, who coordinated PTO's Cubby's Corner effort this year, which provided food bags every Friday afternoon to many students.

Have a safe and wonderful summer, Bruins!
