I have been in business in the Brookings community for over 20 years. I specialize in caring for toddler, preschool and after school age children. Choices for Children promises to create for your child the warm, loving, positive environment in which he/she may blossom and grow. To insure this, I use the techniques of creative play, music, arts & crafts, story telling, and interaction with other ch

ildren. I always remember that each child in my care is special and unique. Learning takes place as each child explores his environment both individually and in a group. My concern is the development of the "whole child". I stress sensitivity to all feelings. Most importantly I help every age child recognize their own individuality and uniqueness. My program offers a setting in which the child can grow, learn and develop physically, socially and emotionally. My program has a positive and pressure free atmosphere where each child is encouraged (but not pushed) to participate in creative art, music and muscular coordination skills while enjoying social interaction with their peers. I believe that early childhood learning can expand a child’s perception of oneself, other people and the world around them. My curriculum helps to develop the following areas:
Literacy (language development, phonics, story telling, pre-reading)
Fine and Large motor skills
Music and movement
Arts and crafts
Social studies (self worth and awareness)
Math skills
Sensory skills
Health and nutrition
Basic Spanish and sign language

Choosing the proper preschool/childcare should be one of the most carefully thought out decisions you make. You want your child to feel welcome and comfortable in this new situation.
