It's time to register for the 2026-2027 school year!

Brookings School District is excited to launch our new Bound platform, your one-stop hub for athletics, activities, schedules, and more. If your student plans to participate in sports, fine arts, or extracurricular activities, please complete their registration as soon as possible.

Who should register?
✅ Students entering grades 7-12
✅ Students entering 6th grade who plan to participate in Cross Country or Wrestling

2026-2027 Brookings High School Information

As families prepare for the upcoming school year, please note that Brookings High School does not have a general school supply list. Instead, teachers will communicate specific supply needs directly to students for their individual classes. Incoming freshmen should reference the Freshman Only School Supply List for required supplies.

We recommend that students come prepared with basic essentials, including:

-Notebooks
-Folders
-Pens and/or pencils

Please note that the first day of school is a full day of school. The regular Wednesday early dismissal schedule will not apply on August 26.

We're proud to see recent BHS graduates Madyson Oines, Waylon Lowe, and Quinton Zhu (pictured left to right) gaining hands-on experience at Dakota BioWorx through a 10-week prototype bioprocess training program designed to help grow South Dakota's biomanufacturing workforce.

Over the past two weeks, they've been working with 3-liter fermentors to grow yeast cells that produce a pink pigment as part of SDSU Professor Ananda Nanjundaswamy's research on developing natural food dyes. Next, they'll scale up their work using 30-liter, 300-liter, and eventually 3,000-liter fermentors—an exciting opportunity to experience biomanufacturing at multiple production scales.

We're excited to see these Bobcats building valuable skills and representing BHS so well. Thank you to Dakota BioWorx for providing this incredible learning opportunity. We look forward to connecting more BHS students with experiences like this during the coming school year!

The Brookings High School office will be closed Wednesday, July 1 through Friday, July 3.

We will reopen on Monday, July 6 at 9:00 a.m.

As a reminder, our summer office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Although it’s only the beginning of summer break, it’s never too early to share important upcoming dates as we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year at Brookings High School!

We encourage students and families to review the schedule below and mark your calendars. These events are a great way to get prepared, connect with staff, and start the school year smoothly.

A sports physical is required for all students in grades 7-12 participating in the 2026-2027 sports season.

Access Health Brookings will be offering walk-in sports physical clinics on:

Registration is now open for Bobcat Summer Camps!

The Brookings School District is offering a wide variety of summer camps for students entering grades K-12, including:

- Basketball
- Football
- Volleyball
- Soccer
- Track & Cross Country
- Wrestling
- Softball
- Tennis
- Golf
- Gymnastics
- Speech & Debate
- And more!

Camps run throughout June and July with opportunities for all ages and skill levels. Scholarships may be available through individual camp directors.

There will be a Life Skills fundraiser for Mrs. Meester’s class at Qdoba tomorrow, January 21st, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. Twenty-five percent (25%) of all purchases made during this time will be donated to Mrs. Meester’s class and used for class supplies, transportation education, and grocery shopping field trips.

To ensure purchases count toward the fundraiser, customers will need to scan the QR code when ordering.
