We celebrated the PPVM Class of 2026 who received their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees this past Saturday! We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and can’t wait to see the impact they will make in the future. Congratulations, graduates! 🎓🐾

We celebrated the Class of 2028 this past week with a Farewell Party before they head to the University of Minnesota for their final two years of veterinary school.

We are incredibly proud of each of them and wish them all the best as they continue their education in Minnesota this fall!

🌟 The future of agriculture is bright! 🌟
With the ongoing shortage of large animal veterinarians, it’s always exciting to see young people stepping up to fill that need.

We were especially excited to learn about Sage and Madison, two first-year veterinary students in the South Dakota State University 2+2 program. Through this program, students complete their first two years of veterinary school in Brookings before finishing their final two years at the University of Minnesota.

We love seeing the next generation of ag leaders pursuing careers that are so vital to our farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.

Madison Higbee, a student in the SDSU Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine in Brookings, SD, recently shared her research on the bison rumen at the Annual PPVM Poster Session. She worked on this project with Dr. Urso and hopes the findings will help both bison producers and researchers make informed decisions about bison health and feeding practices. Watch for her data in an upcoming manuscript and at the NBA Winter Conference Poster Session!

The Class of 2028 proudly presented their Master Poster Presentations last week to an audience of guests, students, faculty, and staff. It was inspiring to witness their dedication, creativity, and hard work come to life. Great job to all involved!

This meaningful milestone marks the beginning of their clinical rotations. Here's to all of their hard work to get here and the exciting road ahead!

It was a paws‑itively exciting week on campus! 🐾

Week eight brought future vet students to South Dakota State University for the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine (PPVM) Preview Day, where they explored what makes Brookings and our 2+2 program a great place to continue their journey. From meeting faculty to experiencing campus life, these future veterinarians enjoyed a true Jackrabbit experience.
