I work with high school students every year who tell me, “I wish I had learned when I was younger.” The good news? It’s never too late. In fact, teens often learn quickly because they have the coordination, strength, and maturity to build confidence fast.

Every visit to the Netherlands reminds me what a gift it is to grow up where cycling is second nature.

Now it’s time to head back to Atlanta and help create that same confidence and freedom—one new rider at a time. Every child or adult who learns to ride is one step closer to a lifetime of independence, adventure, and joy.

One more reason to learn to ride! 🚴‍♀️ Vacations open up when you’re comfortable on a bike. This incredible ride on Vermont’s Island Line Trail even includes a short 200-foot ferry crossing across the gap in the causeway. Safe bike paths, breathtaking views, and unforgettable family memories.

So proud of our Bike Bus and Pedal the Parks kids tonight! 🚲👏

They stood in front of City Council and shared the results of the Your Voice Matters survey, giving Brookhaven’s children a voice in the future of biking in our city.

They did a fantastic job presenting their ideas for safer crossings, more trails and paths, and even a pump track at Morrison Farms Park—one of the most popular ideas in the survey!

Most importantly, they showed that even our youngest residents have thoughtful ideas about how to make Brookhaven safer, more fun, and more connected.

Well done, kids! You represented our community beautifully. 💙

The secret to learning to ride isn’t pedaling—it’s balance.

By removing the pedals first, kids learn the most important skill on two wheels: balancing their own bike. Once that clicks, pedaling becomes the easy part.
