☕️If you are not familiar with the Coffee Club, you are missing out!

This is an opportunity for the students with significant cognitive disabilities to shine. They sell coffee to staff located at BHS and Central Office. This allows for real world experiences with safety, money exchange, social skills, customer service, life skills, hygiene, etc.

Orders are due 10/3 and money will be collected at that time.

Child Find – Brookhaven School District 🏫

What is Child Find? 🍎
Child Find is a state-wide initiative that the Brookhaven School District participates in to identify, locate, and evaluate children ages birth through 21 who may have physical, mental, communicative, or emotional disabilities. The goal is to ensure that children with potential disabilities receive the services and support they need to succeed in school and daily life.

Who Can Be Referred? 🖐️
Any child or youth between the ages of 0 and 21 suspected of having a disability who resides within the Brookhaven School District can be referred for evaluation.

What Happens After a Referral? 📝
1. Review of Data: School staff, agency representatives, and parents/guardians collaborate to review existing data about the child.
2. Determination of Need: Based on the review, they decide whether further evaluation for special education eligibility is needed.
3. Parental Consent: If services are warranted, parents are asked to provide written consent.
4. IEP Development: If eligible, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is created to address the child’s specific educational needs.

Recognized Disability Categories under IDEIA 2004:
• Autism
• Deaf-Blindness
• Developmental Delay
• Emotional Disability
• Hearing Impairment
• Language/Speech Impairment
• Intellectual Disability
