Congratulations Sarah on your bronze medal at the ADCC Open in Dallas!! She went 1-1 on the day in a tough bracket. The organization moved her into the adults bracket after registering for the masters division.
1st match she went against Rana Willink, a competitor from the UFC BJJ. You may be able to guess who her dad is ha! Competitive match but got caught in a heel hook. During the second match Sarah got into her groove and was able to secure a mir lock for the win. She definitely represented well. We are proud of you!! 👏 👏
(We have ton of make-up posts coming soon 😂)

More promotions! Congratulations Wyatt, Korben, Brody, Graham, Liam, Elijah, & Jameson! These students represent our kids program well & we have been thrilled to watch them progress like they have this year.
Brody & Graham are newer to the team, are extremely coachable, & getting good fast! The other students in the pictures have been with us for years. Each one has been a blessing to have & they are each talented in their own ways. We could write a lot about each one & what they mean to us.
Keep up the great work everyone! We are proud of you!

The Pope Sisters!!! Aka the “littles”
Congratulations Adali, Lydia, and Marlia on your new promotions!
Their new ranks:
Adali- orange to green
Lydia- her last stripe on her last yellow belt
Marlia- orange to blue
The girls all started together in the beginning of 2018!!… combined, they have 24 years of jiu jitsu. They have competed in countless tournaments, & attended a ton of our events within our team. We are truly BETTER with them around. We would not look the same today if they didn’t enroll in 2018…. This includes their 3 older sisters who were with us for several years and received their purple belts before growing up and having to move off.
Adali, Lydia, & Marlia were a major part in getting our kids program off the ground & over the last couple of years, the teen program as well.
Each of them are VERY talented in their own ways. They each have their own style of jiu jitsu and it’s been fun to watch all these years. We promoted them differently due to the teenage ranks and the likelihood of them getting matched at their ages for when they went to compete again.
Although they started in 2018, we are posting a picture of them from 2021 in the exact same spots as they are with their new ranks. We can’t wait to see where they will be in the next 5 years. Keep being awesome girls!

Congratulations Miles, Toby (grey & white belt), Easton, & Kara (grey & white belt) on your new ranks!
Each of these are completely different than when they first started… it’s a night and day difference. Most people come in and don’t know how to stand on their feet or knees (on the ground) correctly in self defense situations…and many other things. Imagine a kid coming in and not knowing anything.
These 4 have done an amazing job picking up the basics and actually display advanced techniques when they want to. To the common eye it may just look like kids wrestling around but there is much more going on beyond the surface.
It’s so fun to watch our students showcase their jiu jitsu knowledge & grow weekly through training.
We appreciate each of you & know you will continue to do great in the future!

🚨 Big Announcement!!🚨
We are excited to announce the launch of our new wrestling program!
Our wrestling coach will be Jesse Blauw. Some of you may recognize him because he trained jiu jitsu with us for two years and was awarded his blue belt. We have always known about his wrestling background & can’t wait to get started.
➡️ Here is more information on his background:
Jesse Blauw joined his local youth wrestling club along with a childhood friend in the 3rd grade. As a senior in high school he served as a team captain. From 2011 to 2015 Jesse attended Central College located in Pella, Iowa. He wrestled at the varsity level, competing in the 165lb and 174lb weight classes. Jesse served as a training partner for a number of teammates that qualified for the NCAA tournament and was recognized for the Academic All-Iowa Conference.
➡️ Eligible ages for the club: 13 and up. Kids ages 10-12 will need to get Coach Erik’s approval. These will have to be hard working kids.
➡️ Current Pursuit members will be able to train in 2 wrestling sessions before deciding if they want to add it to their membership.
➡️ We will have a soft launch and start this week. Here are the first training sessions:
* Monday, April 27 at 5am
* Tuesday, April 28 at 7:15pm
* Tuesday, May 5 at 7:15pm
➡️ Tuesday pm schedule adjustment: kids 1 and 2 stays the same. Adults & teens no gi jiu jitsu will start 15 minutes earlier & will be from 6:15-7:15pm on Tuesdays moving forward.
➡️ Attire: wear no gi gear to the wrestling sessions. You will need to buy wrestling shoes when you can. Wrestling shoes should only be worn on the mats. You can still train until you get them. Head gear is optional. Attire is subject to change in the future.

Congratulations to our students on their performances at the tournament! We are proud of you all. Each student has their own success story. Success is relative to each person. For some it may be competing for the first time, in a new belt, winning gold, winning a match in the challenger division, doing better than the last tournament, competing for the first time since an injury, and so on. We are always proud of our students for getting out there. Thank you parents & coaches for showing up and doing what you do too!
