Looking for a fun, easy way to rack up volunteer hours for Key Club, NHS, or college applications? The Elmbrook Parent Network needs high school volunteers to help manage childcare for elementary students while their parents attend an evening speaker event!

Date: Tuesday, September 22
Time: 6:15 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: Burleigh Elementary School

What you'll do: Hang out with awesome Elmbrook elementary kids, lead games, and help keep activities running smoothly.
We need at least 10 volunteers for this first event (more are always welcome, so bring a friend!).

With 10–15% of students experiencing chronic absenteeism today, school refusal is a growing challenge for many families. The good news? With the right tools and support, we can help our children build the resilience they need to succeed.

Mark your calendar! Our full 2026-2027 program lineup is here, and it was built entirely around the topics you told us matter most this year.

First up: Understanding & Addressing School Refusal on Tuesday, September 22 from 6:30-8:00 PM at Burleigh Elementary (Viking Room), with speaker Deanna Marincic and the Gals institute.

This educational presentation offers vital information and resources to help you address school refusal and prevent avoidance in youth in other areas of their life. School avoidance and refusal alone have been on the rise, with approximately 10-15% of students identified as "chronically absent.” This increasing trend has been exacerbated and is tied to increased anxiety, social skill gaps, and challenges re-adapting to structured environments. Your involvement and understanding are key to your child's success. Together, we can create a supportive environment where every student can flourish.

Free childcare is provided!

Welcome back to school, Elmbrook families! Whether you dropped off a kindergartener for the first time this week or are a long-time Elmbrook parent, the Elmbrook Parent Network is here for you all year long.

We're a parent-to-parent group that's been part of this district for more than 30 years, and we're 100% volunteer-run. Our goal is simple: connect Elmbrook parents and caregivers with resources and knowledge to address parent concerns on academic & social issues, and to provide tools and resources to assist parents in guiding their children as they grow and become good decision makers.
