Today is a significant day for our country as we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the lives lost and the many individuals whose courage and sacrifices shaped the days and years that followed. September 11 reminded our nation of the strength that is found within community.
Today, we also gathered beneath our flagpole to celebrate 64 years of Brookfield Academy as an independent school and the freedoms that allow us to pursue academic excellence, cultivate character, and educate students in the traditions and values of our nation.
These moments of remembrance and celebration are connected by something at the heart of our Mission: preparing young people to become responsible, constructive, free people while honoring our heritage. Our heritage teaches us how the freedoms we cherish were built through generations of courage, sacrifice, and a commitment to the principles of liberty. We may not only appreciate the freedoms we have, but we must also understand the responsibility that comes with them - to contribute to our communities, care for one another, and help carry those values forward.
As we remember September 11 and celebrate 64 years of Brookfield Academy, may we remain grateful for the freedoms we share, mindful of the sacrifices that have protected them, and committed to building a strong and caring community for generations to come. 💛💙🇺🇸
