Peak Performance Buoyancy today, and it is the least glamorous class we teach.

Here is the argument for it, and it is a local one. The Wisconsin Historical Society's own description of Dredge No. 6 mentions the fine silt on that site, and how easily divers stir it up. Anyone who has been down there knows exactly what that means. One person with sloppy trim can take the visibility from decent to nothing for everybody behind them, and it does not come back.

That is what this class actually is. Not depth, not a new environment, not a new toy. Hovering without thinking about it, using less air, and no longer dragging a cloud through every wreck you visit.

Every diver who takes it says the same thing afterward. They wish they had done it sooner.

Rescue Diver starts today and runs through Sunday.

Everyone who takes this one says a version of the same thing afterward: hardest course they have taken, and the one that changed how they dive. Every course before it is about you. Your air, your buoyancy, your ascent. This is the first one that is about everybody else on the boat.

Divers come out of it more capable and, oddly, more relaxed. They are no longer wondering what they would do.

It is also a step on the road to Divemaster, if that is a direction you have thought about.

We are going to try something.

One line. What is the one sentence you would say about diving with us, or about a dive you did with us this season? Not a review, not a paragraph. One line.

We ask because the way you describe this is always better than the way we do. We have been writing about diving for twenty six years and we still steal the good phrasing from customers.

A friendly warning from our service bench.

Every April the same thing happens. Everybody pulls their gear out, discovers their regulator is due, and needs it back by the weekend. We do our best. The April queue is not the October queue.

So: regulator tuning and overhaul, BCD cleaning and inflator repair, dry suit seal replacement and patching, cylinder inspections. Jim and Rick handle it.

One thing worth planning around. Dry suits needing major work, a zipper or a valve, sometimes go back to the manufacturer and can be out for several weeks. October is a much better month to find that out than March.

One more note: we cannot fill or service aluminum tanks made before 1990. If yours is older, talk to us.

Discover Scuba today. No certification required, no gear to buy, no commitment on the other side of it.

Just you, a tank, and the extremely strange feeling of breathing underwater for the first time. Most people come up grinning and immediately ask what comes next.

Our students run from age 8 to 80. This is not about being athletic. It is about breathing and being comfortable, and we meet people exactly where they are.

ReActivate today.

This is the class for the person whose gear has been in a closet for a few years. Your certification never expired. Your skills got quiet, which is a different problem and a much easier one.

You get back in the pool with an instructor, run the skills, and remember you actually know how to do this. Nothing is embarrassing about it. We would much rather have you here today than white-knuckling your first dive back next June.
