There is no specific reading center in the brain. 🧠

Instead, the brain relies on a network of systems, each designed for different things (language, vision, cognition), but together create a whole new circuitry so that we may read. ✨

All readers must build a new reading circuit. 🧠🔗

Those with dyslexia need explicit and systematic instruction in all components of linguistic knowledge and a heightened focus on deficit areas to help link the different circuits to access the reading code. 🦋

Our dyslexic students, and all students, deserve to have instruction that is rooted in what the collective science says about how the brain learns to read. The ability to read well can no longer be accepted as something that is unattainable for specific groups.

The more we know, the better we can serve our students and children. ❤️
