🧬 This week, we’re proud to highlight Chelsea Miller, MS, CGC!

An SLCGC alum, Chelsea is the lead course facilitator for the second-year medical genetics seminar course and serves as both a clinical supervisor and admissions committee member.

Chelsea received her MS in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in 2022 and her BS in Molecular/Cellular Biology with a minor in Black studies from SUNY New Paltz in 2018. Since graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, she has worked as a pediatric genetic counselor at Hackensack University Medical Center.

🧬Today, we’re thrilled to highlight Samone Masters, MS, CGC!

An SLCGC alum, Samone is a clinical supervisor, co-teaches the first-year Medical Terminology course, and also serves as an admissions committee member.

Samone received her MS in Human Genetics from the Joan H. Marks Graduate Program at Sarah Lawrence College in 2018. Since graduating from Sarah Lawrence, she has worked as a prenatal and cancer genetic counselor at Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. In 2021, she took over as the Supervising Genetic Counselor for both facilities. In 2025, she became the Clinical Director of Genetic Counseling for the NYC Health + Hospitals system (11 Hospitals) while maintaining her clinical duties as the Supervising Genetic Counselor at H+H/Jacobi/NCB.

🧬We’re proud to highlight Fitz Doyle, MS, CGC!

An SLCGC alum, Fitz co-teaches the first-year cancer genetics course and serves as a thesis advisor and admissions committee member.

A native of Pittsburgh, Fitz received his MS in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in 2019. After graduation, he began working at Virginia Oncology Associates in Norfolk, Virginia seeing patients with personal and family histories of cancer. He is currently based in Washington, DC and works as the lead cancer genetic counselor at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, serving military personnel and their families. Prior to pursuing his graduate degree, he completed his BS in biology with minors in psychology and music from George Mason University.

🦓 Did you know: The zebra is the mascot for rare disease patients because, in medicine, zebras represent uncommon answers. One out of every 10, or 30 million, Americans has a rare disease, and with more than 10,000 rare conditions known, everyone likely knows someone impacted by a rare condition. ❄️ Wishing a warm welcome back to our students, staff, and faculty after Winter Break!

❄️ It’s been a crisp, snowy day here at Wrexham as our students begin the first week of spring semester classes.

🧬 Our first years are embarking on their thesis projects, fieldwork, clinical genomics, speciality classes and more!

🧬 Our second years are continuing their deep exploration of medical genetics and counseling skills in class and through fieldwork & case management, individualizing their coursework with electives, and finalizing their thesis projects!

Looking forward to an exciting semester ahead!
