Some days bring big smiles. Other days bring frustration, tears, “no,” or a child who simply needs a little more closeness.

All of those moments belong in childhood 🩷

Young children are still learning what their feelings mean and what to do with them. Before they can say, “I'm disappointed,” “I need space,” or “I miss you,” those feelings often come out through their behavior.

That's why we don't only teach colors, numbers, and letters at First Bloom. We help children begin recognizing emotions, expressing themselves, and learning that caring adults are there to guide them through the hard moments too.

Because feeling safe enough to have a hard day matters just as much as having a happy one 🤗🌸

Did you know that something as simple as pouring can help your child build important everyday skills? 🫗

Pouring water from one container to another gives little hands a chance to practice hand-eye coordination, control, concentration, and independence.

You can easily try it at home! Start with two small, lightweight containers and just a little water. Show your child how to slowly pour from one to the other, then let them give it a try. As they become more confident, introduce cups of different sizes for an extra challenge.

And don’t worry about a few spills...they’re part of the learning process! 😉

Simple activities like this help children practice real-life skills while building the confidence to say, “I can do it myself!”

Today, we celebrate the spirit of curiosity, exploration, and discovery...things our little learners know a lot about! Every day brings them something new to notice, ask about, and explore. 🌎⛵

A friendly reminder that First Bloom Daycare is CLOSED today, October 12, in observance of the holiday.

“𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭.”

It’s a little sentence that can require a lot of patience from the grown-ups around them 🩷

Sometimes it would be quicker to do it for them.

But when a child gets the chance to try...to struggle a little, figure something out, ask for help, and finally accomplish it—they’re learning something much bigger than the task itself: “I can do things for myself.”

At First Bloom, we want children to know that the adults around them are here to help without taking away every opportunity to try.

So we celebrate the little moments of independence, even when they take a little longer.

Because sometimes the proudest smile comes after, “I did it!” 😘

Give a child some play dough and straws…and see where their imagination takes them 🌸

There isn’t one “right” way to build in an activity like this.

One child might make something tall. Another might place every straw carefully in a row. Someone else may build, knock it down, and start all over again.

And that freedom is part of the learning.

As children push, arrange, balance, and rebuild, they’re using their hands while also experimenting with their own ideas and solving little problems along the way.

Not right away!

For young children, getting comfortable with food can start long before the first bite. Looking at a vegetable, touching it, smelling it, learning its name, and talking about its color or texture are all ways children can become more familiar with what’s on their plate.

That’s one reason we love connecting our weekly themes to real things children can see and explore.

This week at First Bloom, we’re learning about vegetables, giving our little learners opportunities to build vocabulary, use their senses, make observations, and discover something new.

Before the fruit reaches those little plates, there’s some behind-the-scenes work happening. 🍓🍎

This is one of the spaces at First Bloom where we wash and prepare food for our children before snack and mealtime.

Since we’re learning about fruits this week, we wanted to share a part of the day parents don’t always get to see, the preparation that happens before the children sit down at the table.

These everyday routines may happen away from the classroom, but they’re still an important part of caring for our little learners. From getting food ready to serving it to those hungry little hands, there’s a lot that happens in between.
