After 21 years I will be closing my Child Care Program to accept a job with NECC. I will be selling my hoard of toys, books, games, as well as child size shelving and tables. I've decided to create a Facebook group to post things. If you would like to be added to this group comment on this post. I'm hoping to have some things listed by next week. Things like tables and chairs, and maybe some shelving will only be available to pick up after my last day. I almost forgot to mention I live in Broken Bow.

Many you have already heard that I have accepted a job at Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative, which means I have to close my child care. I'm appealing to anybody out there who has been on the fence about opening a child care or expanding your capacity, this would be the perfect time. I have several families who would prefer to stay with family child care. I'm willing to help you with paperwork, get you connected to Grant programs which would help offset some expenses of getting your space ready. Not only would it provide an income but it would be a great service to the community. Please reach out to me with questions.

A Day Without Child Care May 12th, 2025If the child care programs in Custer County would have closed their doors today. There would have been 300 children without child care, 600 parents who would not have been able to work, and $30,050 of economic hours of workforce lost.

This just ONE day!

Now imagine this is everyday!
Would our communities be able to thrive?

These numbers do not account for all the children who are receiving care from friends, families, and neighbors who are also a crucial part of our child care system.

These numbers do include the number of early childhood educators who would not be able to work.

Today we displayed gold pinwheels all over Custer County to represent all the children in care.
