Fun fact of the month: Did you know there is a strong link between neurodivergence and queerness? Multiple recent research studies show high correlation between neurodivergence (especially ASD) and identifying as LGBTQ+. Both groups also have higher rates of left-handedness than neurotypicals or cis-gender, heterosexual individuals. Differently-wired brains tend to be differently-wired in multiple ways.

Reciprocity can be broken down into individual cycles, or circles of communication. The ability to sustain long sequences of circles of communication is an excellent indicator of social emotional skill development. What can you do to keep the circles going? What tiny cues might you be missing that show your play partner wants to continue the interaction? It can be as subtle as a wiggling toe or raised eyebrow.
