September 15–October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month!
Every child deserves to walk into school and find pieces of home waiting for them. Their family’s language spoken with respect.
Their name pronounced with care. Their traditions celebrated with joy. Their history taught with pride. Their story treated as an important part of our shared story.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the generations of Hispanic and Latino families whose courage, culture, creativity and sacrifice have helped shape our schools, communities and country.
We celebrate the music, art, food and traditions, but we also honor the stories behind them.
The grandparents who carried their traditions across borders and generations.
The parents working tirelessly to create new opportunities for their children. The students learning to move between languages and cultures while discovering exactly who they are...And the children who may not yet realize that their heritage is something powerful, something worthy of being seen, celebrated and carried forward.
To every Hispanic and Latino Rhoadie: Your language is not a barrier. Your culture is not something you need to leave at the schoolhouse door. Your family’s journey matters. Your dreams belong here. You belong here.
May every child grow up knowing they never have to make themselves smaller to fit into the world. There is room for their name, their voice, their history and their whole beautiful identity. This month and every month, we celebrate you.
