September 15–October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month!

Every child deserves to walk into school and find pieces of home waiting for them. Their family’s language spoken with respect.
Their name pronounced with care. Their traditions celebrated with joy. Their history taught with pride. Their story treated as an important part of our shared story.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the generations of Hispanic and Latino families whose courage, culture, creativity and sacrifice have helped shape our schools, communities and country.

We celebrate the music, art, food and traditions, but we also honor the stories behind them.
The grandparents who carried their traditions across borders and generations.

The parents working tirelessly to create new opportunities for their children. The students learning to move between languages and cultures while discovering exactly who they are...And the children who may not yet realize that their heritage is something powerful, something worthy of being seen, celebrated and carried forward.

To every Hispanic and Latino Rhoadie: Your language is not a barrier. Your culture is not something you need to leave at the schoolhouse door. Your family’s journey matters. Your dreams belong here. You belong here.

May every child grow up knowing they never have to make themselves smaller to fit into the world. There is room for their name, their voice, their history and their whole beautiful identity. This month and every month, we celebrate you.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Wellness with Jenni

Coming to the Rhoades Health & Safety Fair? Be sure to stop by Wellness with Jenni’s table! Jenni will be offering a free balance test and giving away free products plus a Montessori-style kids kitchen utensil set!

This month, we’re spotlighting Wellness with Jenni again and taking a closer look at what makes her approach different.

Wellness with Jenni is a veteran family-owned business focused on personalized, test-based nutrition and wellness support. Instead of using the same plan for everyone, Jenni works with clients to better understand their individual needs and build wellness strategies around real information and personal goals.

Her services may be especially helpful for people interested in areas such as:

• Sports nutrition and recovery
• Energy and overall wellness
• Digestive wellness
• Healthy weight management
• Nutrition support for children and teens
• Women navigating hormonal changes
• Preventative wellness for the whole family

Jenni’s goal is to help families feel more informed about their wellness choices and find an approach that fits their individual needs and lifestyle.

Free consultations are available!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us at The Garage last night! The Adventurers showed up hungry, understood the assignment and drove away with the BONUS HOUSE POINTS! Apparently, burgers taste even better with a side of victory.

Teacher participation was so close that we ended with a THREE-WAY TIE between Beavers, Conrad and Sixsmith! We’re calling it a photo finish...except the photo is probably just three teachers holding cheeseburgers.

Way to show up and support Rhoades! We appreciate every family, teacher and community member who came out.

Adventurers, enjoy those bragging rights, but stay alert. The other Houses may already be planning their comeback!

TWIRLING TUESDAY: MOVE YOUR NAME!

Today’s movement challenge is simple, silly and works for EVERY body. Use your body to make the letters in your name!
Stretch tall for an I.
Curve your arms for a C.
Reach wide for a T.
Bend, twist, point, sit, stand.or use your hands and arms to create each letter however you can.

You can make it even more fun by:

• Spelling your first name
• Trying your last name
• Making a sibling’s name
• Working together to create really tricky letters
• Taking a picture of each letter and putting them together
• Letting kids invent their own version of a letter

And remember, movement can look different for everyone. Standing can become seated.
Big movements can become small ones.
Whole body shapes can be made with just hands or arms.
A grown up or sibling can help make a letter together.

There is no “right” way to do it.
The goal is to stretch, move, laugh and get creative. Healthy Bodies for Every Body means movement belongs to EVERY body.

MUNCHY MONDAY: DIP IT!

Sometimes the easiest way to make snack time more fun is to add a little DIP!

This week, let your child pair a familiar food with one or two different dips and explore what they like.

Try combinations like:

• Apple slices + yogurt
• Strawberries + cream cheese
• Carrots + ranch
• Cucumbers + hummus
• Pretzels + peanut butter or another safe spread
• Crackers + guacamole
• Bell peppers + hummus
• Graham crackers + yogurt

And remember — the goal is NOT to make anyone eat something they don’t want.

Kids can:

• Look at it
• Smell it
• Touch it
• Dip it
• Lick it
• Taste it
• Decide they’re not ready yet

All of those steps count as food exploration. For children with sensory differences or selective eating, new textures and flavors can take time. Pairing something new with a familiar favorite can make exploring feel a little safer and a lot more fun.

No pressure. No battles. Just a chance to explore. Healthy Bodies for Every Body means making room for different tastes, textures, comfort levels and needs.
