Union Alternative School Principal Chris Ducker will be conducting a forum for students in grades 9-12 who have applied or who wish to apply to the Alternative School at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20.

If you know of any students who appear to be appropriate candidates for alternative education, please encourage them to send in an application and attend this meeting. Student’s attendance at the forum is mandatory in order to sign up for an interview. If possible, parents should accompany the students to this forum.

Applications are available on-line at https://forms.office.com/r/Wbnyhcyjqn. Printed applications may be picked up in person at the Alternative School.

At this forum, which will last for about 45 minutes, Ducker will provide a great deal of general info about Alt Ed. At the end of the presentation, students and parents who are still interested in the program will be scheduled for a subsequent private interview to discuss their individual circumstances and to determine their level of need for the program.

Anyone who wants to be considered for entering the Alternative School needs to attend this forum. Since we work in four-week blocks instead of semesters, we bring new students into the Alternative School monthly throughout the school year. Therefore, it’s appropriate to refer a student here at any time of the year, and forums are conducted several times throughout the school year and the summer.

Your referrals are very important to us, and we appreciate your help with this process. Counselors or Administrators who are new to the district or who are not familiar with our Alternative School are welcome to attend this forum, or they may call me at 918-357-7080 to discuss the Alternative School.

Thanks very much for your continued support.

IS YOUR CAR SAFE AND SECURE?

Anyone intent on stealing your car's contents will always choose the softest target. It’s one of the most common crimes committed yet the most simple to prevent. Here are some tips from Nextdoor on how to keep your car and its contents safe.

1. Always check every door, not just the driver's side, to make sure they are locked when you leave

2. Lock all valuables out of sight. Don’t leave bags under seats or in the back; make sure you put them in the locked trunk.

3. Always check to see if you’ve left your cell phone plugged in on the console or in a window holder

4. Just because it isn’t valuable to you, it may well be to someone else. Even small change could prompt someone to smash your car window

5. Don’t leave house keys in the vehicle, and don’t leave personal papers with your address

6. Park your car in a place that is well let, in plain sight, and, if possible, in the site of cameras

7. Install a tracking device and clearly state that one is installed in the vehicle

8. Don’t leave your car idling at any time. Opportunistic thefts of running cars happen from driveways and outside stores

9. If anyone ever approaches you at an intersection and tries to get into your vehicle, lock your doors and drive to the nearest safe place

We encourage our citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity or criminal activity while it is occurring.

Remember, the BAPD Non-Emergency # is (918)-259-8400.
