Good morning everyone! This is a weird post on a Tuesday morning.
As you leave your homes today to do whatever it is that you do; remember to pay attention to the things around you. Not just scanning with your trained situational awareness habits, but notice people, places, colors, animals,.... life. Sometimes we get so busy that we forget to enjoy the little things around us every day.
Everyone is so immersed in social platforms, but we shouldn't formulate our opinions of life on something so easily fabricated to make us believe that somehow life isn't as great as it really is.
When was the last time you smelled something beautiful, or felt an exotic texture as it slid between your fingers? These are things we give babies when they are first starting out in life for good reason!!! We have so many senses and abilities to enjoy so much more than we allow ourselves to.
So, "Stay Yellow", but also "stop and smell the roses" once in a while,..... unless you're allergic,... don't don't if you're allergic.
Have an awesome day,

Great class last night everyone!!! You chose fi****ms so we started with how to check that a firearm is "clear", then went over basics from anatomy and how they work, to safe handling, and safe transfer to another person. We used the full power blowback airsoft pistol to discuss what the term "out of battery" means and how it pertains to a firearm takeaway, and we broke down a disarm technique and built it up to completion, then ran through many reps and added "getting distance" and "articulating commands."
Fun times. "That's how we do "Monday funday's"
Thursday is back to curriculum so i will see everyone then!!!
Bring a friend!!!

Defensive Tactics at United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was on point!!!
Shane Ammerman has done a phenomenal job putting together a Defensive Tactics curriculum. Being Assisted and Mentored by two of the most competent and legendary Defensive Tactics instructors that I know, Tony Georgiades and Dean Bridges , this was an informative, challenging camp that included Law Enforcement and Security discussions on "Use of Force continuum" and the ideas and reasoning behind it, as well as how to legally articulate why you chose to make the choices you make to a court of law after an incident.
There was a big segment on situational awareness, and discussion of what it actually entails in the broad spectrum of our personal lives as well as in the duty of the Professional Law Enforcement, and Private Security officers, and we had an hour long classroom video conference with Mr. Patrick Van Horne, the co-author of the book, "Left of Bang" discussing the concepts of how to locate people w/harmful intent, and stop their plans of violence before they even happen. I have already read the book 3 or 4 times and this was a great experience to be a part of, on a personal level.
"REFUGE Medical" came and ran us through an intensive 4 hour Emergency Combat Trauma Course that included, combat tourniquet application, emergency triage drills with "tourniquet the limbs, pack the joints, and seal the box" methods; gunshot wound triage, and the importance of having a mindset to mentally and physically overcome pain to push through and keep operating in active shooter situations even when we are wounded ourselves. We can't quit on the people depending on us due to wounds and pain.
We had a ton of empty hand techniques, plus weapon deployment, retention, and use with fi****ms, baton, and knives, and we trained them in real time, using stress induced scenarios.
Today we finished off by wrapping up a few more weapons combative techniques, and we were put through multiple urban assault style violent attack situations dealing with multiple attackers and finishing with takedows and non- compliant restraining with hand cuffs, and working through searching for weapons and eventually getting them back to their feet to wait on law enforcement.
Afterwards we were each assesed by the instructors as to what we did that impressed them, as well as what we could work on and keep in mind as we take these things back home to practice.
Every course has a few bugs to work out when they are first being implemented, but this one definitely started off strong and has a ton of potential to grow even better as the courses keep running.
Thank you, HCCI for a great 4 day course. It was well worth it!!!

Getting ready to go into day #3 of Defensive Tactics at the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Tulsa downtown Doubletree!!!
This course has been a ton of information and instruction already. Every aspect of instruction is gone over with every technique and every strategy. The 4 hour Emergency combat medical potion with "REFUGE" medical was awesome, and intense. I am looking forward to gaining more tools today.
