The last day of school is always a celebration of our year together at BHS, Brodhead School District! We had games outside, in the gym, and in the library. We had a movie, crafts & art studio. Some kids went fishing & some walked 3 miles for ice cream! It was a wonderful ending to a great year!

Hey BHS students, a reminder, Chucheria La Chispita will be at school tomorrow, and be set up behind my room. Students in all sessions are invited to come back for a treat!!

Also, if you're planning to walk to Tastee Creme, during 2nd session, PLEASE bring a FULL water bottle and exact change (including a tip).

Spanish students spent a couple days learning the process of making Cascarones, and the traditions associated with them throughout history.

Today we celebrated our last Book Club by sharing what we learned and following the tradition of cracking the cascarones on our buddies for good luck.

Thank you to the teachers who participated in Book Club once a month with us this semester. It was really neat to see bonds form between the HS & MS students, and to see all of them grow & share in literacy! 📚

Fun mini field trip/working lunch with Spanish 2 today. They wrote stories this week to turn into movies, and needed a restaurant & park setting, so we walked to Chucheria La Chispita and Veteran's Park to eat, play, and film their movies. Can't wait to see all the cinematic effects and great acting next week!! ;) Thinking some Oscars might be earned...

The Cinco de mayo tradition here in Brodhead is for Spanish 3 & 4 students to teach a lesson and play some fun games with the 2nd grade class. Today we learned about the flag, map, some special Mexican symbols, colores, numbers, shapes, body parts, and how to play with pirinolas. We also had a special treat from Jorge, who brought in home made arroz con leche to share with everyone.

Today was the Día del Niño event at Brodhead. We had so much fun planning and hosting this party again this year. About 200 people from the community attended. We had over 20 volunteers, including a lot of BHS students. Thanks to everybody who makes this day one of the most fun events of the year.
