We visited our last country today on our trip around the world, Germany 🇩🇪! We learned that the tradition of building gingerbread houses started there so we had gingerbread cookies!

Today we visited Sweden 🇸🇪! We learned about St. Lucia day when the oldest girl in the family wears a crown of 7 candles 🕯️ and serves coffee and lussekatts (buns with raisins). We had hot chocolate ☕ and cinnamons rolls.

On Friday we took a quick walk over to the middle school to see all of our hard work that we did for our community project. It was fun to see all of the decorations we made being used for the senior citizen Christmas luncheon.

We have been busy the last couple of weeks! We started our Christmas Around the World unit beginning with USA 🇺🇲. We made reindeer food (oatmeal and green and red sugar).🦌 Next was Mexico 🇲🇽 where we learned about the legend of the poinsettia. Our next stop was France 🇫🇷. The yule log cake is a French tradition so we had our own "yule log cakes" and we left our "shoes" out for St. Nick to fill.👞 🍭 From France we went to England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 where we learned about the English Christmas cracker tradition. Today we went to Italy 🇮🇹! We learned about La Befana and tried penattone, a traditional Italian Christmas dessert.

As you may have heard, an 8 year old boy named Jackson Sparks has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the Waukesha Christmas parade tragedy. Jackson played baseball and his mom has asked that everyone attending his funeral wear a baseball jersey. Because of that "Jerseys for Jackson" was started and your child is invited to honor Jackson by wearing a baseball/sports jersey to school on Friday, Dec 3rd.
