English Department, The College at Brockport English majors at Brockport explore the rich traditions of British, American and World literatures, expository and creative writing, and film.

The Department of English at the College at Brockport offers students the opportunity to develop analytical, creative, and research skills as they build a strong foundation in British, American, and world literatures. English majors may pursue focused study in creative writing or literature, interacting with nationally recognized scholars and authors. This program is ideal for students who have a

passion for the literary arts and who wish to hone their analytical skills through the practices of close reading and critical writing and interaction with peers and faculty.

Open Mic Night tonight! Join us at 6:30 pm in McCue Auditorium, Fannie Barrier Williams building, to say hello, read a page or two from the Open Mic, or just listen if you don't want to read. Everyone's invited--students, faculty, community--and nobody's getting graded on their work tonight.

ALBERT ABONADO, author of the terrific FIELD GUIDE FOR ACCIDENTS, and also for what it's worth a super nice human being, will be with us for the Brockport Writers Forum on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Join us at 7:30 pm in McCue Auditorium, the Fannie Barrier Williams building, SUNY Brockport. Like all our events, this one is free and open to all. Parking on our campus is free after 7pm.
