Join the School of Nursing during Brockport's Homecoming and Family weekend on September 18th and 19th! We have an incredible weekend of activities planned, including a career panel, social mixer, tours of Lathrop Hall and our ExCEL center and an alumni gathering! All are invited including students, alumni, faculty, healthcare professionals and community members. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. Link to register is in the comments!

SUNY Brockport nursing student Lilianna Palumbo and her brother, Giovanni, are turning their family’s experience with multiple sclerosis into a mission to help others.

Through the Mountains, Minds & MRIs Project (MMM Project), the siblings are working to improve access to neurological testing and support early detection of conditions like MS.

Inspired by the loss of their father and their own experiences navigating delayed diagnoses, Lilianna and Giovanni are committed to helping others get the answers and care they need.

The MMM Project is already gaining traction in Western New York. A recent MS Awareness Walk at SUNY Brockport drew more than 100 participants, supporting fundraising and outreach efforts. The organization also received regional exposure after being featured on WGRZ-TV’s WNY Living on June 20, 2026, highlighting its mission and impact to a broader audience. As the nonprofit continues to grow, its founders remain focused on a simple goal: ensuring equitable access to early neurological testing so that no one is left without answers when symptoms arise.

These School of Nursing students complete their BSN in only 15 months, having already earned a Bachelor's degree in another field. The Graduate Nursing Department in the School of Nursing recently recognized five clinical preceptors for their contributions to the education of students in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) programs.

Graduate nursing students nominate preceptors each year to recognize healthcare providers whose mentorship, guidance, and commitment have had a meaningful impact on their clinical education.

This year’s honorees are:
