Renshinkan Judo

Renshinkan Judo Renshinkan Judo is a family oriented judo club on the campus of SUNY Brockport College. Judo means "the gentle way".

Renshinkan Judo’s has both youth program, community adult program and is affilited with the Judo Club at Brockport University. Participants are taught the techniques of Kodokan Judo philosophies, principles and techniques as both a martial art and an Olympic Sport. This includes learning how to properly fall, throw and pin partners. Classes are taught by Sensi Janet Johnson, a 6th degree black belt and international IJF-Class A referee.

Looking for a sport that builds cardio, balance, and agility? Join our community Judo program!

Our Judo Instructional Program is open to adults and children six years of age and older. This program is designed to help participants build competency in all important basic techniques and understanding of Kodokan Judo philosophy and principles.

All classes are held in the judo room (D14) located in Cooper Hall on the SUNY Brockport campus.

Instructor: 7th-degree black belt Janet Ashida Johnson

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays starting September 2nd.
Children’s class (ages 6–12): 6–7 p.m.
Adult class: 7–9 p.m.

Who Can Join: Open to the community, with discounts for SUNY Brockport faculty and staff.

What to Expect: Beginner-friendly classes focused on fundamental techniques and the philosophy of Kodokan Judo.

Equipment: Students must purchase a judogi (available from the instructor).
