💙 Mommas! We (and a few of our amazing former teachers- see photo 👏🏻) are starting something new and we’d love for you to be part of it!

The Sandhills Mom Village is a new local community for moms to connect in real life think casual meetups, coffee dates, playground hangs, moms’ nights, family events, and just more opportunities to actually know the people around you. Family hang outs and couples nights out coming, too!

Community connection is always the answer and it’s needed now more than ever.

We have some fun things planned! The group is open to anyone who wants to join so invite a friend. The goal is simple: build real life connections.

🚧 Pardon the dust… Mr. Luke has been busy demo-ing and rebuilding our Flower Room playground fence!

She was 12 years old and a little tired.

It’s wild to think that 12 years ago he was out here just like this constructing this fence, ramps, and playground all before we ever opened our doors.

Time flies.

We can’t wait to see you tomorrow for our Back to School Bash from 11am-2pm! Our fence won’t be quite done (gotta make use of our two week break 😅) but the show goes on!

See you soon!

🤫 Okay… we probably shouldn’t tell you this yet.

But we’re working on something new… and it might be for the families who have ever thought:

“We homeschool… but I still want them to have a little world that’s theirs.”

“I don’t need childcare every week. But some mornings? I really wish I had somewhere I felt GOOD about sending them.”

“I want them outside, making friends, getting dirty and doing something amazing… even if it’s just once in a while.”

👀 Okay. We’ve already said too much 😆

Something new might be coming.

Any guesses what we’re up to? 👇

It’s suspiciously quiet around here this week 😆

No muddy shoes by the door. No tiny voices asking why, 47 times before lunch. No one carrying a stick twice their size across campus because it is, obviously, VERY important. ❤️

We’re soaking up one last quiet week before these spaces are filled again with all of us, doing what we do best… wondering, exploring, helping, trying, figuring it out, and becoming more capable every day.

And we can’t wait!

School starts August 31 and there are still a few names missing from some of our part time classes. 🥹

So, if you’ve been thinking about giving your little one a few mornings a week to get muddy, make friends, build confidence and discover just how capable they really are… maybe this is your sign.💙

☀️ And just like that… another Inde summer is in the books!

These are the days they’ll remember! We had lots of dirty feet, adventures, tons of new friendships, so many hilarious stories out of the mouths of babes resulting in belly laughs, lots of brave tries and firsts, tons of helping hands and memories to set the foundation for a lifetime.

Because around here, childhood isn’t something we rush through.

It’s where they learn I can. I belong. I can help. I can try again. It’s setting the foundation for the skills and character traits that make a genuinely good human 🫶🏻

Summer camp may be ending, but this kind of childhood lives on here at IA.

Our school year begins August 31, and there are still a few little people we haven’t met yet.

Come grow with us.

Two mornings a week might not sound life changing. But we’re not really teaching them how to pour the water.

We’re teaching them to believe they can.

When a two year old pours their own water and spills it, we don’t rush in and fix it. We show them where the towel is.

Today, they’re cleaning up a spill. But underneath that tiny moment, they’re learning:
I can make a mistake and figure out what to do next.

When putting on their shoes feels impossible, we give them just enough help to keep trying. Today, they put on a shoe. But they’re learning:
Hard means I get to keep trying.

When they carry their own things, care for our animals, help a friend, wait their turn, or put their work back where it belongs, they’re learning something bigger than preschool skills.

They’re learning who they are.

Capable. Helpful. Curious. Courteous. Independent.

THATS the why behind so much of what we do at Independence Academy.

We aren’t trying to make toddlers grow up faster. It’s actually the opposite. We believe deeply in protecting childhood. The mud, the stories in someone’s lap, watching their garden grow, getting dirty, wondering, playing, trying, failing, and trying again.

But we also believe children deserve the dignity of being trusted to participate in their own lives.

Because eventually, the toddler who insists, “I do it!” becomes the child who thinks, “Let me try.”

The child who learns to keep trying becomes the teenager who can think for themselves, own their mistakes, take pride in their work, and do the right thing even when no one is watching.

And someday, that teenager becomes an adult who knows:

I am capable.
I can figure things out.
I can do hard things.
I have something valuable to contribute. (This, this, this 🙌🏼)

That’s what we’re working toward when we let a two year old pour the water.

Not a perfectly poured cup. A capable human being.

And we know that two mornings a week can help build that foundation, because we’ve watched it happen, again and again.

We have a few part time spaces still available this year. If this is the kind of childhood you want for your little one, we’d love for you to come experience Inde for yourself. 🤍
