🔹2nd Place: Ella Beagle in the Ag Education LDE.

🔸2nd Place: Food Science — team members Hope Bruce, Avery Caffrey, Maggie Toothman, and Valentina Velasco-Bautista.

🔹3rd Place: Avian Bowl — team members Avery Caffrey, Maxine Halterman, Maggie Toothman, and Valentina Velasco-Bautista.

🔸5th Place: Senior Ag Mechanics — team members Brian Billhimer, Bryleigh Burke, Gabbie Garlock, and Joseph Manetta.

🔹5th Place: Ag Issues — team members Abby Coleman, Myleigh Jones, Kevin Lobo-Ayala, KK Sherlock, and Carson Shirk.

Broadway FFA members enjoyed participating in the Virginia Lumber Cup by building a trebuchet. Thank you to the The Turman Group and Virginia Farm Bureau for sponsoring this event.

At the state dairy skillathon contest yesterday the team of Hope, Maggie and Avery placed 1st. The team of Eli, Hailee, and Maddy placed 3rd. Individually, Maggie was 1st, Maddy, 2nd, Hope 3rd, and Avery 5th.

The BHS Greenhouse will be open Saturday morning from 8-11 am. Due to some challenges, we do not have as many flowering annuals, baskets or planters as normal. All items are available for free. If you would like to give a donation, we will use it to offset student costs to attend our state FFA convention in June. Here is a list of what we do have:

Congratulations to Ella, Maxine, Rylie, and Valentina for placing first at the state poultry contest, qualifying to compete at the National FFA convention in October. Broadway also had the 2nd place team with Eli, Maggie, Avery, and Hope. Individually, Avery was 1st, Rylie 4th, Maggie 6th, Ella 7th, and Valentina 10th.

A HUGE thank you to Beards and Broads in Broadway for letting us use their facilities to host this event. Proceeds from entry fees will be given right back to our FFA members that are attending State FFA Convention in June to offset expenses. Awards/prizes will be given to the top 3 teams. Broadway FFA has been busy this week!

On Thursday, kids competed in the Shen Valley Cattleworking Contest. The team of Gracyn, Mason, and Jackson placed 3rd and the team of Averie, Sydney, and Landon placed 11th. We are so proud of you!

Yesterday, many of our kids participated in the John C. Myers Farm to School Day where they educated all JCMES students on different sectors of agriculture. Thank you to the JCMES team for having us out!
