Don't miss the partial lunar eclipse on the night of August 27-28, later this week!

Here is the timeline of the phases, on Aug 27:
🌕 Penumbral begins: 1:23 UTC (8:23 pm Central Time)
🌕 Partial Eclipse begins: 2:33 UTC (9:33 pm Central Time)
🌕 CLIMAX: 4:12 UTC (11:12 pm Central Time)
UTC time is for Aug 28.

Where can you watch this event?
🌕 Full eclipse - all of South America, eastern North America.
🌘 Some of partial or climax - most of Africa, Europe, and the rest of North America.

This is a partial lunar eclipse. The moon will pass behind the Earth from the sun, into the reddish umbral shadow of Earth. 96.2% of the moon will be covered at maximum.

In the Shaanxi Province of China, a truly ancient cephalopod was just discovered! The cephalopods include octopuses, squid, and the nautilus.

🐙 Several little shells were discovered, and scientists named them Eoceras shaanxiense.

🐙 Eoceras had a shell divided into a few chambers, through which was a soft tube (siphuncle). This separates cephalopods from other mollusks.

Hey y'all! We're running a bird tally at the Bristow Public Library that ANYBODY can participate in. Whenever you're in Bristow, keep an eye out for birds.
Remember the kind and/or number of birds you see. Then, come 5o the library conference room to mark down your sighting.
It's better to undercount than overcount, so it's fine if you don't remember all the details.
