Pringle Nature Center offers public and private nature-based programming for children and adults out of Bristol Woods County Park.

Contact us by email or visit our website: www.pringlenc.org. Kenosha County Parks maintains the park trails and facilities. Pringle Nature Center is a non-profit organization that operates out of Bristol Woods County Park to provide programs for the public. We provide environmental education programs to school children from Kindergarten to 6th grade. All of our classes are linked with local and state standards. We also have public programs for the general public to come to learn about nature and the world around. Pringle provides other programs as well for youth groups, nature themed birthday parties, as well as our building can be rented for events. In the wintertime, the general public can rent snowshoes for use in the park. Kenosha County Parks maintains the lawn areas and the trails.

🐍 Who'sss ready for story time with a snake?? Join us at Pringle Nature Center for Nature Story Time (October 15th, 9:30 am) to learn about snakes alongside PNC's new rescued snake, Linguine! We’ll be reading Snakes on a Train by Kathryn Dennis and making paper snake chains. 🐍

Nature Story Time takes place every Thursday and 1st Saturday of the month at 9:30 am inside the nature center building and is for young children accompanied by an adult. 🏃‍♀️🚶🏿‍♂️There are just 4 weeks until this year's Bristol Woods Trail Run: let's get those steps in for nature! Sign up online through November 4th for $10 off registration fees, or by October 25th in order to snag your race t-shirt: www.pringlenc.org/trail-run.

The Bristol Woods Trail Run is a 5k trail run and 2 mile hike through the trails of beautiful Bristol Woods County Park (9800 160th Avenue, Bristol, WI 53104), held on the first Saturday of each November at Pringle Nature Center. Participants choose between a 2-mile walk/run or 5k run over dirt trails winding through the prairie and forest habitats of Bristol Woods. 100% of entry fees benefit environmental education programming at Pringle Nature Center and include a great spread of treats for all participants and supporters. Top finishers in the following groups for the 5k will receive awards: top overall male and female, and top male and female age 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & up. Sign up early if you would like to reserve a race t-shirt (quality performance material in adult men's, adult women's, and youth sizes). Day-of race registration will be open on November 7th for an additional $10, so save yourself some cash and register online! www.pringlenc.org/trail-run

Oh, deer! The trail cam caught some great shots of the family of white-tailed deer in Bristol Woods over the past months.🦌

Pringle Nature Center participates in the Wisconsin DNR's "Snapshot Wisconsin," a volunteer-based program monitoring wildlife year-round using a statewide network of trail cameras. The goal of Snapshot Wisconsin is "to better understand wildlife populations and animal behavior that might be otherwise difficult to observe... the photos are then made available online and classified by volunteers from across the globe." The program welcomes both volunteers and institutions to participate, distributing trail cams for use on private or public properties. We hope that our participation in the program will also enable us to understand more of the ecology of Bristol Woods and share findings with our visitors.

This Snapshot WI trail cam is located off-trail within Bristol Woods, facing away from all areas that park-goers frequent. More information about the program can be found at www.dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/Research/AboutSnapshotWI.

Read a story as you hike in Bristol Woods! Visit the park any time, now through November 30th, to read Fall Mixed Up by Bob Raczka while you follow a trail through autumn leaves. Directions to the StoryWalk® Trail will be posted at the front door of PNC. This program is free and self-guided; children must be accompanied by an adult. StoryWalk® is presented in cooperation with the Kenosha Public Library and is made possible by a Women's Fund grant through the Kenosha Community Foundation.

If your October aesthetic is crunching leaves, warm c***r, and candlelit trails, we've got you covered! 🍂🎃🍎👻 Come out to Pringle Nature Center for the "Candlelight Halloween Hike" on October 30th: visitors will check in at PNC before following the luminary trail through the woods and ending with light refreshments and nature activities at the nature center. All ages are welcome (children must be accompanied by an adult) and costumes are encouraged! Registration is required; please visit www.pringlenc.org/events for more information.

🎉What a way to kick off the fall season! Fall Fun Festival was so much fun, and we have YOU to thank, so THANK YOU to the more than 650 attendees who joined us at Pringle Nature Center for a festival celebrating fall, nature, and the amazing resources in our community! It was a beautiful autumn day, and visitors got to meet owls, tour the woods on a hayride, learn about native plants and animals, slingshot seed bombs into the prairie, listen to live music, sample delicious snacks, discover new community organizations, paint pumpkins, and much more, all while supporting Pringle Nature Center. Congratulations to all of the cash raffle, prize raffle, and "PRINGO" hunt winners!🏆All winners have been contacted.

🍄Saturday, October 3rd: Pringle Nature Center is excited to partner with the Kenosha Public Library to host "Exploring the Fungi of Bristol Woods" as part of their "Fungi Fall" series!🍄 Join us to discover the fascinating world of mushrooms! First, you will learn about the fundamentals of what a mushroom is, common types in our area, and the places where you are likely to spot them. We will then take a short hike to practice identifying mushrooms amidst the autumn beauty of Bristol Woods.
