A message from Dr. Ioannis N. Miaoulis, President, Roger Williams University
To my colleagues around campus and the entire RWU family, we are in unchartered waters; on campus, in our country, and in the global community.
It is a time of worry for some, disappointment for others, and for everyone a time of an extreme amount of unexpected work and care needed as we are called to reimagine our work and learning.
Let me say that I am awed by the dedication and thoughtfulness of so many. The Cabinet and I are meeting daily planning our next steps, the deans and faculty are working to transfer their high quality instruction to new modalities in short time, and we are caring for and tending to our student needs and coming together in amazing ways. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you are doing to ensure the care of our students and our beloved institution.
We are about to enter a time where online learning, increased remote work, and social distancing will be the norm for a while. But at this time of increased distance, let's not forget the things that unite and connect us and make our community the special place that we are. When we say we are called by our mission to be the University the world needs now, at this moment, the world needs something very different from us than it did a few months ago. The work we do now and the opportunities we find in working in new ways will be hard but I believe it will make us an even stronger community going forward.
