⚠️ Heading to campus tomorrow? Plan for extra travel time!

Traffic on the Mount Hope Bridge will be stopped in both directions at several intervals on Wednesday, Aug. 5, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., weather permitting.

If you typically cross the bridge, consider taking an alternate route and expect possible traffic buildup on Ferry Road. Overnight repairs are also scheduled on Sundays throughout August from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

RWU Engineering students are helping reconnect the community with the Johannis Farm Wildlife Preserve in Barrington.

Working with the Barrington Land Conservation Trust, students are designing and building a new 50-foot pedestrian bridge to replace one destroyed by a storm in 2022. Along the way, they are surveying the site, building trusses and helping install the foundation.

Once completed in summer 2027, the bridge will restore public access and support educational programs and research at the preserve.

Tiny organisms with big potential for sustainable aquaculture. 🔬🌊

Through RWU’s Blue Fellows Program, Cara Harvey ’26 and Gillian Frey ’27 are researching new ways to improve fish nutrition, prevent disease and strengthen aquatic ecosystems at the Center for Economic and Environmental Development (CEED).

Their hands-on work could support healthier fish, reduce waste and advance Rhode Island’s growing blue economy.
