TN High Counseling Office wants to offer you help with the FAFSA on Thursday November 17th! Choose an appointment time that fits with your schedule to receive personalized help with the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) from Erika Adams from TSAC (Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation). Each appointment time will be 45 minutes long and will take place in the TN High Counseling Office. You will need your Driver's License to sign in at the front office and receive a name badge before heading over to the Counseling Office. The Counseling Office will be hosting a Senior (Class of 2023) Parent Night on Tuesday, September 13th at 6:00 PM in the TN High Auditorium. This meeting will occur after our Future Fair (see Future Fair announcement for details). During the Senior (Class of 2023) Parent Night will be discussing senior year information, post-high school plans and tasks, and discussing what students and parents need to be doing now to prepare for the future. All senior parents and students are invited!

The THS Counseling office will host a Parent Night to discuss registration information for Rising Juniors and Rising Sophomores on Tuesday March 8th in the THS Auditorium. Rising Sophomore students and parents will meet at 5:30 PM, and Rising Junior students and parents will meet at 6:30 PM. Please contact your THS counselor if you have any questions.

We will cover topics such as college applications, financial aid, TN Promise, check lists for during and after high school, and much more. Please plan to attend (SENIOR parents and students)! The event will be in the THS Auditorium on Tuesday, September 14, at 5:30 PM.

Attention Current 10th Graders and Parents: We are SO excited to partner with two post-secondary institutions (Northeast State Community College and Tusculum University) to offer a path to an associate's degree program for rising juniors (current 10th graders). Students who successfully complete the program will concurrently earn their high school diploma and an associate's degree! If you are interested, head over to the THS Counseling Page and find the VIKING U tab for more information. An interest survey can be found under the VIKING U tab and will need to be completed by Friday February 5th if you are interested in the program.

Hey, Seniors! Worried about getting your community service hours during COVID? Not sure you'll have time to complete all your hours? TN Achieves/TN Promise is now accepting VIRTUAL community service. All you have to do is click on the link below, log in, and watch webinars for one hour of community service per webinar. You must complete 8 hours of community service to stay eligible for the TN Promise Scholarship. See your THS School Counselor if you have any questions.

As an additional resource, we have recorded a virtual opportunity for you to complete community service hours. By watching the webinars below, you will accumulate community service hours. The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) is hosting a statewide virtual FAFSA help session on December 16, 2020 from 4pm-7pm cst. If you are needing assistance with completing the FAFSA or have questions, feel free to attend the event. You must register to receive the link to the session. Attention rising 11th and 12th graders: The 2021 Tennessee Governor's Schools applications are now available. The Tennessee Governor’s Schools provide eleven challenging and high-intensity programs for rising 11th and 12th grade students. Students interested in participating in a Governor's School should go online to obtain the application. Submission information, and critical deadlines for the upcoming summer’s Tennessee Governor’s Schools is published on the Tennessee Governor School website or https://www.tn.gov/education/instruction/tdoe-governors-schools.html. Students who would like to apply need to be in the top 10% of their class and be interested in spending up to 6 weeks on a college campus over the summer. Application materials require input from students, parents, and multiple educators. Students interested in the Governor School for the Arts are expected to complete student application materials and return them to Mrs. Skeens by Thanksgiving Break. All other Governor School applications are due to Mrs. Skeens by Christmas break.
