CrossFit RAZE is not your typical gym and we are not like any other Bootcamp or CrossFit Gym around. You won't have to worry about walking into a huge class of perfectly sculpted athletes or wonder if you'll even be able to make it through the first workout. Instead, you'll be greeted by trainers who understand how intimidating it can be to just walk through the doors (yes, we've been there!). Trainers who will work with you personally during the whole class, prepare a workout specifically for your needs and be there to guide you continuously through your fitness transformation. Trainers who will believe in you, even when you may have stopped believing in yourself.

Oh how many times I wanted to do this at RAZE 😂

At 70, Joan MacDonald struggled to climb a flight of stairs without becoming exhausted.
At 80, she lifts weights that many people half her age would find intimidating. ❤️
Ten years ago, Joan weighed nearly 200 pounds and was dealing with high blood pressure, acid reflux, high cholesterol, swollen ankles and declining mobility.
She had already undergone a knee replacement, and even ordinary movement was becoming harder.
Then her doctor told her that her blood pressure medication might need to be increased.
Her daughter Michelle, a fitness coach, gave her another option.
Try changing the way you live.
Joan agreed.
She renewed her gym membership, bought a food scale and joined a group of women learning about strength training and nutrition.
The beginning was anything but glamorous.
Her first workouts left her breathless. She had to learn unfamiliar exercises, understand nutrition and even become comfortable using technology to follow her daughter's programs.
But she kept showing up. ❤️
Fifteen minutes became longer workouts.
Light weights became heavier ones.
And slowly, the woman who struggled on the stairs began getting stronger.
Over time, Joan lost around 70 pounds, roughly 32 kilos. By 2018, she said she was no longer taking the medications that had once been part of her daily routine.
But the transformation didn't stop when the weight came off.
Joan kept training.
Today, at 80, she performs deadlifts, strength exercises and movements that would have seemed impossible to her at 70. 💪
Her story has also grown far beyond the gym.
More than 2 million people now follow her online, many of them watching because Joan challenges one assumption again and again:
getting older doesn't automatically mean giving up strength.
She didn't transform in 30 days.
She didn't find a miracle shortcut.
She simply kept making better choices long enough for them to become a different life.
If you knew that the strongest version of yourself might still be ten years ahead of you, what would you start doing differently today?

This is important to understand especially as we age.

Running or walking a few miles as a steady pace is a good way to guarantee you will lose muscle.

Take that same few miles, cover the same distance, but do it in speed intervals. Bursts of hard intensity of running or walking then short rest periods of slow running or walking.

“The calm you feel after a workout is not a mood. It is a voltage reading.”

If you were an athlete of mine at RAZE one thing you probably remember well is me talking about the saber tooth tiger or T-Rex coming after you and how your body was designed to to be under attack and we are only simulating what your genetics are still primed for. This is why exercise, especially CrossFit if coached well, works better than any other “stress reducer”. You are doing exactly what your body was built to do. No alcoholic drink, meditation, talk therapy or door dash treat will relieve your stress. Stress is not a mood, it is voltage inside you that needs released. You are electric, you are designed to manage that electrical storage with movement.

What if stress isn’t just “in your head”… but a measurable form of trapped physical energy inside your body?In this video, we break down the real science of ...

Is today’s weather is making you think of the sun and getting rid of the winter SAD (seasonal affective disorder)? But what if you didn’t have to wait for the summer sun to replenish your vitamin D by making your own UV light inside your mitochondria? YOU are light… I have been studying quantum biology concepts and am so amazed by the human body than ever before. We have adapted to thrive just as well in winter climates as the summer. How? Your mitochondria make similar wavelengths as the sun! Here’s the catch though… you have to USE the cold! Keeping yourself cozy in a temperature controlled environment all winter is slowly deteriorating you. Cold therapy is a cheap way in the winter to embrace the cold and gain many benefits including making your own UV light and vitamin D. So who’s ready to jump in the river with me 😳 🧊 🥶?

A new study of multiple sclerosis patients in Poland discovered a boost in blood serum levels of Vitamin D resulting from whole body cryotherapy. No changes i...
