America began with the Puritans who wanted freedom to worship God but not as the king dictated in Europe. They believed in the God who wrote the bible under the direction of the Holy Spirit. They wanted a faith whose boundaries weren't set by man and that welcomed love for God and man. It seems our political leaders have lost their moral compass. Half of our people are served, the other half are disrespected. The two party system was designed to act together providing checks and balances and arriving at justice for all. We need a president and representatives who will trust God to help keep the promises made, and not a continuation of the executive order chaos. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Being a dictator for a day won't change oppressive, authoritarian rule. We, have forgotten the roots of righteousness that are the basis for our freedoms. We operate more like Communist nations than we know or are willing to admit or change. Our legislators must work together if we are to return to representative government, to being one nation, and a force for democracy in the world.

Will We Give HIM Praise? By Tom Stevens
As we approach the National Day of Prayer on May 5th, let’s consider the state of our union. Biden said, “Last year Covid-19 kept us apart. This year we’re finally together again.” Yes, perhaps we are less isolated, but we remain deeply divided. Party loyalties were clear in his points and perhaps have kept him from fulfilling the promise of unity and working together. “Biden said we should “see each other not as adversaries but as neighbors.” That is difficult when party agendas keep us conflicted and unwilling to agree or reconcile with each other or with God. The revolutionary war was fought to overcome oppression and to become a representative government. America’s leaders prayerfully crafted constitution which limited government and encouraged dependence upon God. Our money still says, IN GOD WE TRUST, but do we? Will we remain a free people?
Tyranny can easily take hold when those in power do what is right in their own eyes and disregard what is evil in the sight of the Lord. We pray, “God Bless America”, but how can He bless us when we’ve shown so little respect for his commandments which reflect His Love? “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou has sent” (John 17:30).
We ask you to join us for the National Day of Prayer, Thursday May 5, 2022 at the Salvation Army Citadel, 661 Main St, Manchester, CT. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm. May our hope in GOD unite us in praise and prayer. Perhaps it's time to reconsider our beginnings and EXALT THE LORD WHO HAS ESTABLISHED US (Col. 2:6-7) as a free people.
