Class of 1971 BEHS Bristol

Many of us will remember Rick Schmaltz, Class of 1971, who was a standout member of the football team. Sadly, Rick passed away on November 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rick first developed his love of football at Bristol Eastern, a passion that carried him through life. He later graduated from the University of Maryland and was inducted into the Bristol Sports Hall of Fame, an honor he deeply cherished. He often spoke fondly of his teammates, the friendships he made, and the lessons of teamwork and perseverance that began during his time at BEHS.

Tommy Delano, a creative life well-lived. Reading of his life brings back memories of our roots, growing up on Meadowbrook Drive, with lots of neighborhood kids playing street games, getting rides around the block in Mr. Hickey’s car in the rumble seat, and lots of laughing and shenanigans. A neighbor recalls how Tom’s mother was always drawing flowers with her pastels. She loved Mr. Cook’s flower gardens behind her house, and often sat in his yard with her easel. It seems Tom inherited her artistic talents, and, so sadly, also, her Alzheimer’s. Needless to say, I am so saddened to hear of his passing.
