Welcome Back and Happy First Day of School to our students, faculty, and staff!

This morning Father Cesar and Deacon Mario greeted the students in the school yard and formally introduced themselves to every one.

Father Cesar then began what we hope becomes a new tradition - the blessing of the school bags, calling upon our Lord to bring His guidance and protection throughout the year leading our students on the correct path each day.

Saint Mark, pray for us.

This special honor recognizes schools throughout the Archdiocese that demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence, faith formation, and providing an outstanding Catholic education to their students.

On Thursday, Mrs. Sanson attended a special ceremony where all of the schools receiving this prestigious recognition were honored. We are so proud to see Saint Mark School among them! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

This achievement is a reflection of the dedication of our teachers and staff, the support of our families, andโ€”most importantlyโ€”the hard work and accomplishments of our students.

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations, Kaiden! ๐ŸŽ‰

We are incredibly proud to celebrate recent graduate Kaiden C. for his outstanding academic achievement!

This summer, Kaiden earned the highest score in Mathematics in the Father Judge Summer Bridge Program, an impressive accomplishment that reflects his hard work, dedication, and love of learning.

At Saint Mark School, we are committed to building a strong academic foundation, that includes a rigorous math curriculum taught by dedicated and supportive teachers. Itโ€™s wonderful to see the mathematical skills and critical thinking Kaiden developed here continue to serve him so well. His success is a testament to his perseverance and the solid preparation he received during his years at Saint Mark School.

Congratulations, Kaiden, on this well-deserved honor! We are so proud of you and canโ€™t wait to see all that you achieve in high school and beyond.

Please join us in congratulating Kaiden on this incredible recognition! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“šโž•๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“ข Important Legislative Update for Catholic School Families

This week, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed House Bill 2632. This legislation seeks to eliminate funding through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programsโ€”critical sources of tuition assistance that help many families access a Catholic education.

We encourage our school families and supporters to read the statement from Archbishop Nelson J. Pรฉrez regarding this matter and to make their voices heard by contacting local elected officials through the Pennsylvania Catholic Conferenceโ€™s Voter Voice tool.

Catholic education changes lives, and these programs provide vital opportunities for students and families across Pennsylvania.

Thank you for your continued support of Catholic education and school choice.

Each week, we share the stories of individuals from across our districtโ€”our Hometown Heroesโ€”whose lives reflect the character, strength, and spirit of the community we are proud to call home.

This week, we proudly honor Father Dennis Mooney, who recently retired after 49 years of faithful service to the priesthood, including the last 23 years with his family at the Saint Mark and St. Ann Parish community in Historic Bristol Borough.

There are some people whose impact cannot be measured by a title, a building, or even a number of years. Father Mooney is one of them.

For more than two decades, Father Mooney was woven into nearly every part of Bristol Borough life. He was there in moments of celebration and sorrow, in school hallways, at community traditions from the annual St. Ann Italian Carnival to Puerto Rican Day and everything in between. He was there for families, students, seniors, neighbors, and people of every background who came to know him not only as โ€œFather,โ€ but as a friend.

He did not simply serve Bristol. He became part of its heart.

Born in Kensington, a graduate of Visitation B.V.M. School and Northeast Catholic High School, Father Mooney was ordained to the priesthood on May 21, 1977. His ministry took him from St. Agnes Parish in West Chester to St. Hugh of Cluny Parish in West Kensington before bringing him to Bristol, where his presence became a blessing to an entire town.

At St. Mark and St. Ann, Father Mooney built the kind of parish community every town hopes for: warm, welcoming, faithful, joyful, and alive. He made faith approachable for children, meaningful for families, and openhearted to people across denominations and backgrounds.

Father Mooney lived his priesthood in a way people could feel. He brought faith out of the abstract and into daily lifeโ€”with warmth, humor, humility, and a shepherdโ€™s heart. He helped children understand it, families lean on it, and people of every background feel welcome in the presence of Godโ€™s love.

That gift was especially clear in his devotion to Catholic education and the children of St. Mark School. Generations of students knew his joy, his stories, his encouragement, and his familiar cheer: โ€œSt. Markโ€™s isโ€ฆโ€ answered by the proud shout, โ€œthe best school in Bucks County!โ€

When both the St. Mark School and St. Annโ€™s Church faced closure, Father Mooney fought with everything he had to ensure they stayed open. He knew what was at stake was not simply buildings, but generations of Bristol families, children formed in faith, traditions passed down, and a communityโ€™s sense of home. His tireless work helped preserve those sacred anchors, and their continued presence in Bristol remains one of many lasting marks of his ministry.

But Father Mooneyโ€™s impact was never confined to the walls of a church or school. He showed up everywhere Bristol needed him: to listen, laugh, guide, comfort, teach, pray, and serve. In a town built on faith, family, tradition, and neighbor helping neighbor, Father Mooney became one of the leaders who held it all together.

For 23 years, he gave this community the gift of a priest who was present, approachable, joyful, and faithfulโ€”a shepherd who knew his people, loved them well, and pointed them always toward God.

As Father Mooney begins this much-earned next chapter, we wish him every blessing, every joy, good health, andโ€”after a lifetime of giving himself so fully to othersโ€”a little more rest and relaxation, too.

Please join me in celebrating Father Dennis Mooney on his retirement, thanking him for his remarkable ministry, and honoring his 49 years of faithful service to God, the St. Mark and St. Ann parish community, all of Bristol Borough, and all who were blessed to know him.
