To some these questions may seem odd or insignificant but to others they mean the difference in feeling safe and heard while laboring. We all have lived different life experiences and have different expectations when it comes to support.
Part of my role is having open conversations about potential difficult topics so I can best serve you as part of your support team. I am not trying to be nosey or dig deep into personal experiences but I would like to know if there are things that could possibly create more stress/anxiety while you are in labor.
For example, if you are a person who does not like a certain body part touched for whatever reason and I am touching there while doing hip squeezes...that is likely going to cause you to tense up and break your labor flow.
My job as your doula is to make you feel as safe, heard and relaxed as I possibly can.

Listen Linda...
(yes I'm aging myself with that one😅 )
I am calling because I would like to officially request that you please stop using AI for birth info. While some info (and I say that with a small amount of confidence) can be great, there is a lot of what all the youngins are calling it...AI Slop.
AI can give us silly pictures or can be useful in helping to fix your lawn mower, but it is not good at giving out evidence based information. AI pulls from thousands of different unvetted sources and combines them into a computer generated answer. You could potentially be given answers pulled from harmful sources or a biased blog post from 2001 that does not have updated researched backed information.
So please...if you have questions, no matter how small find a reliable source to gather information from or, better yet...ask your doula! We can give you an evidence based answer ourselves OR share a resource with you that you can delve into yourself!

Megan was a joy to work with and I would highly recommend her. She is easy going, open to communication, and really takes the time to get to know her clients. While my birth experience didn't turn out the way I wanted because my baby was breech (we had a scheduled c section instead of vaginal birth), Megan was there for us. She came to our home for all pre- and post-natal visits and came to the hospital when we asked her to after my baby was born. I wish I had her come sooner! She also accepts insurance which made it a no brainer for us. She even brought us a parting gift which was SO sweet and tailored to our likes - very personable. I would 100% work with her again!

Here is a question I get a lot! I bought a birth ball but what do I actually do with it?
Our first instinct when sitting on a birth ball is to bounce. While there isn't anything inherently wrong with gentle bouncing, there is so much more you can do with it!
Save & share this graphic to get yourself prepared for birth!

On almost every doula consult, I am asked this question so I figured I'd post about it. Here's is my short answer:
• I’m your “scrunchy” awkward friend who makes you laugh and will tell you the moon made me do it • I trip over my words (and sometimes my own two feet) while providing you with evidence based information and trust in your intuition • I am not here to judge nor to lead • I am here as a calm space holder to walk along side you in this journey •

Here's the deal...no one gets to make decisions for you in birth! You get to make the calls and decide what is best for you and your baby. As your doula, my job is to support you in making choices and working my ass off to help you fulfill those decisions. As we all know, birth can have a mind of its' own but no one, not medical staff, your family/friends, myself or anyone else can tell you what to do. 💜

Better late than never!!
Thank you to all the families I was able to serve, those that hired me for a second time, those in the birth world that lent a hand or a listening ear and my own family for being flexible with an on-call schedule.
Here is to 2026 and the experiences it will bring!

Why does pressure canning scare me so much?! I get so much anxiety trying to make sure it's done right and I don't somehow create an explosion 🤣🤣
