What can I do to help the museum?
There are many ways to support our work — not only through events, exhibits, or donations, but also through the many “behind‑the‑scenes” tasks that keep the museum running.

Several times a year, Sandra Wang of the local nonprofit International Hope Center https://www.internationalhopecenter.com/ministries reaches out to ask how her nationwide volunteer teams can assist us. On Friday, April 17, three volunteers who had traveled from North Carolina spent the morning helping with housekeeping projects and then asked for a tour. We were delighted to show them the Light & Life art exhibition, introduce them to the tradition of pysanka making, and share the history and sound of the bandura.

Підтримати нашу роботу можна багатьма способами — не лише участю в подіях, виставках чи пожертвах, а й у численних «закулісних» завданнях, які забезпечують щоденну діяльність музею.

Кілька разів на рік Сандра Ванґ із місцевої неприбуткової організації International Hope Center звертається до нас, щоб дізнатися, як її волонтерські команди з різних штатів можуть нам допомогти. У п’ятницю, 17 квітня, троє волонтерів, які приїхали з Північної Кароліни, провели ранок, допомагаючи з господарськими роботами, а потім попросили провести для них екскурсію. Ми з радістю показали їм виставку Light & Life, ознайомили з традицією писанкарства та поділилися історією й звучанням бандури.

We are delighted to announce that our new semester at the Detroit School of Bandura will begin in September. The first gathering will take place on Saturday, September 13 at 2 PM at the Ukrainian American Archives Museum, located at 9630 Joseph Campau Ave, Hamtramck, MI 48212, where the main classes will be held on Saturdays throughout the semester. For students living in the Brighton/ Ann Arbor area, alternative arrangements may be made.

Time is short we kindly ask that you let us know by September 1 if you wish to join us this semester. Whether you are just beginning your journey or continuing your studies, there is a place for you here.

Posted • The Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus would like to thank the Ukrainian Selfreliance Michigan Federal Credit Union for the opportunity to represent both the Detroit School of Bandura and the UBC Archives in the Detroit Community. The credit union’s Annual Picnic took place on Sunday August 10th at the Dibrova Estate in Brighton, MI.

Representing the School of Bandura were Liana Masnytska (Administrator) and bandurists Mykola Deychakiwsky and Mychajlo Serdiuk. Representing the UBC Archives were Bohdan Pryjma (Archivist) and Khrystyna Masnytska (Archivist Intern). Many individuals stopped by to gather information regarding bandura lessons and the Archives Preservation initiative.

New student, Alec begins learning to play the bandura under the guidance of Maria Bachador.
