Boston Green Academy’s mission is to graduate all students prepared for success in college and the workforce. As a public school serving grades 6-12 that is deeply vested in cultivating a highly skilled and actively engaged global citizenry, we prepare all of our students to be leaders in environmental stewardship and activism, to live their lives responsibly and sustainably, and to take advantage of employment opportunities in the burgeoning green economy.

We are so proud of our 8th Grade Civics students, the featured winners of the John Hancock Award for Excellence in Civic Expression in the iCivics "We Declare! Challenge."

Our friends at iCivics have announced the winners of the inaugural WE DECLARE statewide civics competition, recognizing three Mass. classrooms for their creative interpretations of the Declaration of Independence. More than 2,100 eighth grade students from 44 school districts participated, submitting 145 videos from across the Commonwealth.

Boston Green Academy in Brighton, just down the road from GBH, was named the featured winner earning the John Hancock Award for Excellence in Civic Expression. They are on today’s digital mural at GBH HQ overlooking the Mass Pike and will attend the Boston Pops July 4 Fireworks Spectacular, where their video will be broadcast live.

Our amazing cast and crew of Newsies was honored to be visited at intermission by Governor Maura Healey and her partner Joanna Lydgate (lower middle above), who were in the audience for Sunday's final performance. The show was amazing and we are so proud of our students! Huge congrats to Emily, Charlie, Alex J, and Jessie Z for all they did to make this happen for our kids. It was a wonderful moment for our entire community!
