It is an amazing morning. Sitting here just listening to the day's song. I hear the orioles, wrens, doves, chickadees, the occasional heron, crows, and many, many more birds. Absolutely beautiful.

Well, it's a rainy day so I will have to force myself to go to a few garden centers for a little inspiration. Awe shucks. LOL

I was able to start planning the deck planters today and now I need to find the plants. I will be restricted a bit because of my back recovery but I am excited. Also, 3 trees came in today for the orchard. 2 plumb, and another peach. I am looking forward to the rest of the trees arriving this week and getting them in. God's blessings abound. Whoo Hoo! Go God!

I just came in from the garden. The pears, plumbs, quince and cherries are all in bloom and the redbuds, apples and crabapples will be in a few days. I love spring. My peach blossoms didn't make it. Oh well, there is always next year for them. Have a great Sunday evening!

As brothers, we pray formal prayers morning, evening, and night. We also pray throughout the day remember all those who have asked for prayer and give thanks for all we've been given and all we will receive. This evening I was wondering what song I would listen to for inspiration at the end of evening prayer and was lead to this: As Miss Dolly says, "I hope you get a blessin our of it."

Good morning, everyone! We are now coming into blossom time. The temps are going up and the nighttime temps are not supposed to go into freezing. This is a pic of pear blossoms, and it won't be long and we will have fresh asparagus and rhubarb. I love this time of the year. God bless you all.

It is close to the time for prune your fruit trees. Some people with large orchards have started already however with only a few trees, February, March, and early April are the best times in the northern parts of the US and Canada. I will be doing my pruning in about 3 weeks, around Valentines Day or shortly after. I have 2 "Red Gold" cherries that are in really bad need of renovation. I will show some pics at that time of the before and after, and also the results of the pruning. In the meantime, here is a great video for pruning your cherries. God bless y'all and remember we are the stewards. Take care of what God gives you and you will have an abundance to share with others.

Good morning. The day has started off by finding that one of the hens has finally begun laying eggs. Just one of the many advantages of having a flock on the farm.

It is now January 2024 and time to start thinking and dreaming about the upcoming gardening season. As of now, I have most of the seeds that I will need for the year and I anticipate the arrival of my new apple, plumb, and peach trees. By spring, the orchard will grow to 20 trees. Now all I have to do is keep the rabbits from eating the bark so they will have a chance to grow.

I have received new varieties of plumb tomato seeds and the new strawberry plants have been planted as have the garlic and Egyptian walking onions. I will start the tomatoes in late April.

The new hens are about ready to begin laying eggs and that will be welcome. As many of you know, I have had a challenge with keeping the predators away from my birds in the past. I hope that is taken care of.

I will be adding pigeons this year, thanks to a friend of mine who is re-homing a pair of doves to the farm. She is white and he is white with black speckles.

Thanks for all the Christmas and New Years wishes, prayers, and blessings. There are always welcome.
